  1. hmmmm....I have had my crews (and me) get faked out...a dead tank was there so I ignored it but fire still came out...until I went over there and saw another tank using his dead bud as instant hull defilade...seen this in two DYO battles I set up... ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin [This message has been edited by pathfinder1 (edited 06-27-2000).]
  2. yeah, when ya get the full version setup a DYO with a 14" spotter.....be sure to crank the sound all the way up...then go sit in the middle of the barrage... ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  3. there is thread elsewhere that some of the files were corrupted, Moon reloaded them, so maybe they are fixed. also I find that Netscrape sometimes changes the format to text, so I d/l exclusively in IE now.. hope you work it out...the Maastrickt ones a super scenarios. ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin [This message has been edited by pathfinder1 (edited 06-27-2000).]
  4. I am still in shock after Sunday's Battle in "Chambois" by the Poles. Lordy, how the heck I rated a major allied victory after I only had a 25 lbr spotter, 2 mauled infantry platoons, and an immobilized Sherman left.... 1 panther (elite?) took out 7...count them...7 Shermans! but the Poles still came after to Germans.... especially their tankers... It seems the Polish arty (Brit?) shocked their CO to make a foolish stand in this big square... Gawd, but the losses....one after another the Polish Shermans brewed up..usually after getting a coupla Germans... my hat is off to the ballsy piat gunner who finally took out that Panther...while under fire from a German infantry squad...I sure wish I could remember his name... I think I should be courts martialed for those losses.... one humble pathfinder ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  5. I played this Saturday night... intense to say the least. I managed a minor victory or tactical one... left the default defense except for moving some units on the right flank. but Lordy, that darn half-track rush by the SS on the right flank..I just about pooped in mah drawers when that rolled down.... good thing I had some reinforcements a turn or two after they started down...but was still nasty...hand to hand and close range (except for some **&^^%$ Tiger tanks) man....whoever designed that one deserves a bonus... ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  6. I get a green sky unless I am at or near ground zero level. I suggest you try that and see if it fixes your problem.. good luck! ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  7. I used a 14" spotter in a "day after d-day" scenario I setup....YIKES!! blew the snot outta a coupla 50 mm PAK behind a road block...and their covering infantry... hehe, go for immersion and be one with the Germans getting shelled....nasty to say the least. I won't be using that spotter too much! LOL ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  8. hmmmmm, I haven't tried it...ya want a wooden one or a stone one or metal?? ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  9. how do those advances affect tactics?? welp, as always ya goes kinda "touchy, feely"....the overwatch maneuvers are an example when contact is highly expected... means lots more could potentially "brew up" due to better bad weather/night acquition and longer ranger (better optics and munitions)... the soldiers (and Marines) HAVE to be better trained in both gunnery/marksmanship but more importantly leaders MUST be better trained in employment of weapons and their use (tactics)in order to win. all of this is based on my 24 years of military experience (US Army) sheesh, I guess (and ah ain't bein' a smartbutt either)go read the Army Field Manuals or FM's..latest versions...my stuff is pulled outta mah fat butt er haid... er... *grumble, where's the beer* pathy shuttin' up before he sticks his WHOLE foot in ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  10. yikes..MOUT..Military Operations in Urban Terrain...grunt infantry work with some possible support from either Bradley or M1...or national equivalent...though it is a tanker's nightmare as always....dirty, grinding stuff... anyone a recent vet of infantry?? been too long since my bldg 4 days at Benning... but in essence...nope not much is changed there...except I personally would rather bypass and starve the illegitemate progeny out basically (operation NOT tactical view??) by-pass the hard spots like big cities but gain transport nexus, but really depends. What are the National or strategic goals?? Hopefully not one of thses &*(^%$# peacekeeping things ick...rather not discuss recent/current US NCA "adventurism" ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin [This message has been edited by pathfinder1 (edited 06-26-2000).]
  11. hehe, oopsie ah gots losted... Strategic: rise of USA from mainly agrarian society to industrial and not much to do internationaly, to the Cold War and US being the de facto (IMHO) world leader, then the fall of the USSR and Warsaw Pact.. tactically...I guess in gross detail, not much difference has changed except ranges of weapons are much greater than WWII and the use of IR, thermal sights, etc allow night time operations to a greater degree. The basic principles haven't changed much.. ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin [This message has been edited by pathfinder1 (edited 06-26-2000).]
  12. you may want to check out any of the Jane's reference materials... biggest things IMHO is the advent of AT missiles, Chobham-type armor, helicopters, better trained service people to include reservists/National Guard.. there are other reasons...multi-pliers lile Electronic warfare...better commo equipment... Dangit, ah wishes there were a spill chinker..er spell checker besides me. ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin [This message has been edited by pathfinder1 (edited 06-26-2000).]
  13. Is there a reference(s) out on TO&E for both allied and German recon units? I am interested in making a scenario or two on them. ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  14. where are ya looking for them....mine end up in saved games folder.. ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  15. hmmmm, I sometimes get a green sky when I am not at ground level.... puzzling if ya still get that effect at ground level... ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  16. OK, I got a suggestion but not on maps. Be very careful on what you chose for artillery spotting. I chose 14 spotter for grins; well lets just say that it is a bit overpowering. I'd recommend that one only be used if there are some VERY tough and/or large defenses to get through and then only one. I will say that the explosions ....are awesome...especially if there just happens to be a vehicle in there... ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin [This message has been edited by pathfinder1 (edited 06-25-2000).]
  17. hehe, I did it as the Brits... was touch n go for a while but I did manage a tactical victory...barely... ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin [This message has been edited by pathfinder1 (edited 06-25-2000).]
  18. Sounds like it would be a real "mother" of a battle! Would be interesting to play ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  19. I have a picture of a strange graphic anomalie. I was playing "Merry Christmas at Hemroullie" whan I noticed a Mk IV Panzer coupled with a knocked out one.... Like they were Siamese twins... It just looked kinda strange I am not sure what would cause this. ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  20. Shugger, you can edit the names in the game , at least in the scenario editor. you have to click on the unit type (eg platoon leader) and there is a box to change the name. have fun with it. ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  21. darn it just as the Germans ran into my roadblock/minefield and 105 barrage my system crashed (invalid page fault or gpf-I forget which).... now I'll have to play it again ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  22. I gotta say ah got mah fanny spanked! Played as the Americans. First time I seen an armored counterattack out of a fixed defense...OUCHIE! ah needs some Preparation H now.... BTW Excellent scenario!! me thinks ah needs to review tactics on assulting a defense like that!! ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  23. Thanks guys, This sure helps the ol' pathster.. ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  24. *pathy pulls on his asbestos undies* Yes I did do a search! I have a couple of somewhat ok scenarios but want to change victory conditions somewhat to Force the attacking Germans to have to try to go through my defending Americans. I can't sem to change the flag location, so what do I do ??? Exit markers?? hat are those in the editor?? How do I give an onjective to the attacker other than the flag? *pathy runs for the pond and jumps in to put out the flames* Seriously, thanks for any help I may get.... ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
  25. Babra...good point. I been on both sides of that fence, so to speak....if the tank is buttoned...it ain't gonna see then grunts untill they knock, usually with some kind of high explosive....hehe ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
