  1. LOL, speakin German? never m8, remember Operation Sealion? They tried their best tho. Wasn't an American (or Russian for that matter) 2 be seen. Facing the full might of the German war machine, this brave isle saw its finest hour. N Max , talkin of jams, WW1 saw another very funny 1. U boyz got conned into buyin that AWFUL French MG. U bought thousands of em n they ALL jammed within 50 odd rounds LOL. They saw u comin a mile off m8 [This message has been edited by Londoner (edited 06-05-2000).]
  2. LOL, Owen, nice idea m8, n Germanboy yes, tis a shame the "bubblegum chewers" didn't listen 2 the British General Staff more would've been far less GI's in body bags if they did. BTW Germanboy, do u know why your ladz pesisted with that crazy counter attack doctrine? Wiped u out.
  3. Mat, i tryed 2 sign up m8, do u need outlook or something similar cos my Email is only through Internet Explorer. Can i still get on the ladder? [This message has been edited by Londoner (edited 06-03-2000).]
  4. So are airbursts and tree splintering taken into account with Mortar and Arty fire? Fukin amazin if so [This message has been edited by Londoner (edited 06-03-2000).]
  5. "Citizen Soldiers" by Steven Ambrose is a book u peeps might want 2 read 2 get uz in the mood 4 our up comin treat in the mail. It covers Normandy from all points of view particularly from company level and below using many first hand accounts. Ambrose basically takes a battle, enagagement, even skirmish or patrol, and gives an in-depth view of it from MANY different sources, mainly Allied but some German. Sometimes many guys comment on the same action as low as Platoon level so u get a much clearer idea of the encounter. The book is seen (at least by the KCL War Studies Dept) as one of the most historically accurate, well researched books on the GI's experience in Normandy. (Most of uz prob know bout it already but jus in case.
  6. LOL!!! And me, i can't wait 2 send those good ole boyz, chargin yeeeehaaa, n shootin from the hip all the way 2 Berlin. U know why u Yanks have such thick skulls? So u can ram them against brick walls. There are better ways 2 get round a wall m8. Fact: "the US way of War in WW2 chewed up American infantryman." 7. Wot do American Tanks and American Beer have in common? There's loads of em and their all ****e. [This message has been edited by Londoner (edited 05-30-2000).]
  8. Whey, i luv that Yank sense of humour . But seriously, strategy and tactics have never been your forte. Ahhh 1812, good year wasn't it? (We've still got the Burnt pathetic rag, its in the Shropshire Military museum BTW) Lookin forward 2 showing our little cousins how the superior British military mind works.
  9. Ted m8, i see where your comin from but u've gotta realise that other people take different variables into account when buyin a game. I for 1 do. I'm all for BTS makin a nice profit from this, after all it's a fukin sorted game, job well done. But, and it is a big but, there are many other groundbreakin militarily orentiated games that have been released over the last couple of years. Half-Life, Hidden&Dangerous, the Close Combat series? and maybe Shogan Totar War (hehe not a hex fan). All these games were/are competitively priced. OK Battlefront is a small company with a limited comsumer base but surely CM didn't cost more than say Hidden&Dangerous (which was developed by a small Chech' company wasn't it?) Battlefront r making plenty by shipping direct n cuting out untold middlemen so why should they charge us $100 or 65 quid 2 me! If i pay $45-50 4 top quality games from other companies, why should i pay more from another? Simple fundementals of our luvly(not) capitialist system. If u buy a ****e game 4 the same price, more fool u for not researching it, in this day n age there's no excuse .
  10. LOL Canadian crew. (jokin) Firefly our baby, crappy American 75/6mm's. [This message has been edited by Londoner (edited 05-29-2000).]
  11. Tigers, n 88's hmmmmm. Gimme jus ONE Tiger wid a good crew, decent support troops 4 flanks, and i'll push the Americans into the sea. Well almost.
  12. **** yea m8, tank crew morale is definately in. US forces were alomost destoyed (On CE), so i drove a Stug right on top of the US owned hill (2 the Germans far left). The Stug had taken no casualties or damage, woz buttoned up, AND spotted AND ID'ed two depleted rifle squads. They HAND grenaded it (doing fuk all damage) and the crew promptly baled out, gutted! 13. hehe 2 right m8. Personally, i can't wait 2 turn over some of these Yanks who love their Shermans and think their Patton. Fulham FC 4 the premiership 2001.
  14. Kip, Pace u'z wonna email game? Havn't played yet but itch 2 give it a go.
  15. Kip, Brens were not in use in the British Army in the 80's m8 they woz gone by the sixties, and Michael E, the Vickers phased out in by 42? No way m8! British Paras used em 2 great effect in Operation Market Garden, the water jacket meant the gun could fire 4 almost as long as u could stay awake . I'm a BA War Studies Grad and i interviewed a bunch of paras who saw action at Arnhem, 4 a dissation. One Para told me he saw a Vickers gun team suppress a german platoon in a house 4 half n hour, they'd fired around 3000 rounds and hadn't even changed barrel!
  16. Cheers m8 4 advice, i see wot your sayin bout ambushes, but i've had simmilar results by jus using the hide command. BTW is ne1 playin the demo online?
  17. Please could some1 tell me how 2 use the target marker. And r ambush markers n ambushes with a target worth using? i seem 2 be able 2 win out-right (ie enemy surrender) without them. (I still don't know how they work anywayz) Thoughts would be appreciated.
