  1. For this you may use the Editor. This is actually what I do to play BCR. I load into the editor the map matching the new battle parameter, then I buy my Battle Group. Here I set the actual experience and ammo levels on a squad level base. SO experience does actually reflect the evolution of each squad faithfully rather then having the QB averaging out. This way if my - say - 3rd squad of second platoon gets hambushed and practically all are killed, the next battle that particular squad will be made of green or conscript soldiers if the parameters say so for it. It is nice to see then your squads show exactly the BCR experience acquired during the war rather then a random value [based on average exp] assigned by the QB. The Editor allows as well to name the units to achieve what you wish to do. That you go with emergency reorganization: you fill up to full squads with the men you have and keep tracl of the depleted squads, which and how many. At the beginning of the new battle I place the depleted squads and units on the map border and leave off the map to suffer from the penalty on Battle Group moral level. 2. From Hauptmann Fuhrer Hawk 2nd of September The battle lasted only 20 minutes. We agreed to a cease-fire. I only lost 3 men and 8 are lightly wounded. Sometimes war is difficult to understand even for a veteran like me. We set up our defense, trenches, mines, our tanks and HT set into very good positions. Men were ready for something big against us. Infantry and tanks, a tough battle. Big it was: over a thousand men tried to get to our positions. Thousands of partisans, young, old men, all trying to get to our positions. It was a carnage. I agreed to a cease fire and let those men retreat. I counted 206 dead on the field and the others who managed to leave were for the most wounded and covered with blood, and the wounded helped the dying ones to leave. It was pure madness: all came to us and left their lives at the cry of "Rodina!". How in the world they expected to overrun us? I wonder what was driving those men: they were brave but fool at same time. What a waste of lives. Some of the dead were so young they must have known no woman before leaving this world. We are all, officers and soldiers alike astonished. I saw some of my men crying softly: they killed boys younger then their sons. They had the picture of their mothers in their hands, not a soldier last act: just a child dying, dying with a last look at his mother. The mutilated bodies are all over and everything is covered with blood and body parts. The smell is horrible. We have to repair the Pz II and Pz IV tracks. That is our biggest damage. I have no words I could say to my men now, they fought well today but it has been the hardest battle of all. I know they will be marked by the events of this evening. We all look at each other in silence. We respect these dead, they fought and died with all they had. And little they had. I cannot hate these dead, nor any of my men could. We are soldiers though and we will do the same, exactly the same if we have to. We will fulfill our role in this tragedy till the end. Till the same end. We would do it again, we might have to do it again. All is silence, a deafening silence. Death has won tonight and She worked hard, hard and without rest. And She must be pleased with us. We all have been Angels tonight. The Angels of Death. I hope it won't happen again. [ March 16, 2003, 05:28 PM: Message edited by: Seahawk-vfa201 ]
  3. Just played my first Allied Attack on an EasyCo Map: Gonowka. Very nice. From HauptmannFuhrer Hawk journal. August 16th. Dawn. Battle is over. We repelled a powerful attack from Ivan who sent against us 13 tanks and over 2000 men. 11 tanks are now part of the russian scenery, bound to rust in the incoming winter. It is August but already we had a cool weather. Hot days are most surely gone. Major Victory but all my tanks are abandoned though they made the enemy pay a very high price. Enemy infantry suffered 600+ casualties and some 200+ bodies are feeding the bushes of the steppe and the wild dogs and the rats. 29 of my soldiers are being sent with honor to Deutscheland to be buried with military honors. The crew of the Pz II is now brand new: they just arrived and are still green but wil harden to battle as well as the one replacing the brave SPW 251 crew. They withstand the cross fire of 4 Rusky tanks with bravure: they simply refused to withdraw and made a whole Rusky platoon route before succumbing to enemy fire. They will all receive a medal for courage in the battle field. I felt a sudden pain when I saw their halftrack burst into flame and no one bailing out. Families have been contacted already: they can be proud of their sons as I am. They were my sons too. Our Veteran PZ IV crew did a great job with 4 tanks destroyed and a countless infantry casualties. They lost their tank and we are receiving a brand new one but luckily they are all sound and safe and eager to kick ass. We will rest till end of August, thanks Lord, before advancing and establishing a stronghold on the 2nd of September. We will have to hold on a little town facing an important road cross. I am confident we will repell all attempts of dislodging us. Luckily no more platoons are whole green. All have at least one regular squad which might help in the heat of the battle. Our conscript Lt withstand nicely his first battle. He deserves the newly acquired respect from his young men. I hope they will get experienced soon before... I won't even say that. I hate seeing all these young faces come and go. September is tomorrow already and on the second at dawn we'll reach the village. All looks calm now and we will have time to reinforce our defense as the intel tells us enemy will not get to us before dusk. We will prevail again. 4. First Veteran unit: the PZ IV !!!! Going against Allied as VETERAN level made for a tougher battle: only Tactical Victory this time. Two squads got so many casualty that I have 1 Green and one Conscript HQ. In the 6 squads total I have now 5 Green and one Regular  One platoon is so Green (they got ambushed!!) I will have to keep it behind and use it against routed units to speed up it experience and moral My CO has now 17 exp points. General Hawk Journal: August 16, 1941 We had 3 weeks of rest (thanks Berlin) and we are now back to full force. This time we are securing the area as we expect a Ruski attack on our positions. We traveled hundreds kilometers so far. This time waiting for the ducks to come into our traps will be a boost for moral and experience. This time WE wll ambush those sissies!!!!!!
  5. Attaboy!! That's my hope: that once the players reach 45 most of them will be on Crack!! Hmm - you know what I mean... Have any of you experienced an increase in skills level when playing PBEM or TCIP? I've found that my BCR instinct to protect my troops has started to pay off and some of my old opponents are becoming... well, a bit lightweight... hope, they don't read this </font>
  6. Inherently not my fault: got promoted by BiltAid: received medals too from Berlin
  7. I got so bored with winning all the time (i think i may need my head examined) - i'm like 10-2 or something - that I upgraded my experience to Regular, which i hope is not ill-advised: the current Allied Assault I'm in is illustrating the concept of "human wave" brilliantly..... i'm still cowering in my trench waiting for it to recede, wondering what the winter will bring. Herr j0ker </font>
  8. Hi Lane: If you may run java applications then give a try to Peterk BiltAid tool. Time I spend to report my AAR? 30 secs at maximum AND it is even fun to do On the end: you want to play CMBB right? General Hawk 9 battles from Barbarossa 22 June: 8 Total Victories, one Major Victory. Maybe I should put AI to Expert level and have it have always 150% Oh wait: I hear already Biltong: "Wait for the winter. Summer - even historically - have seen Axis penetrating like hot steel into butter. Just wait for the winter..." Indeed so far I have seen just infantry (their backs mostly) and tankettes and a couple of T37: literally Chili con Carne Tin Cans.
  9. Mostly to bump thread... Report from the front Herr General, this is now our 9th succesfull battle. We have Ruskies fleeing away at sight. They all route easily and must be very new to the art of war. Our casualty level is so far not greater then 10% of what we inflict on the enemy. We are advancing at full speed: little resistance so far. Yours Hauptamann Fuhrer Hawk
  10. Small problem with Biltaid and attached units. I have now 160 points available for attached units but Biltaid only allows me to enter ONE single unit: as soon as I enter its values and validate the entry Biltaid skip to next panel. Hence, say, the second attached unit can only be added to my BG on the following battle. Other problem, but this is my personal mistake: the first time I entered an attached unit I inadvertently put 0 (zero) men for the unit. Now it show as conscript, 0 experience and 0 men. Does not evolve. Any possible way to remove this ghost unit?
  11. That would be great. Using the editor for the Battle group and setting the values in there is a nice flexible add-on.
  12. Yes, at least it does for me. Hmm, it will ALWAYS changed the ammo for me. So if you start the scenario editor, add a platoon of inf, change all their ammo to say 2, save the scenario, exit the scenario editor, start a new game, select quick battle, set ammo to say 10%, import your just made map and troops, look at one of your inf squad in the game, they still have only 2 in ammo? If it does, something is very strange. Even Steve has more or less confirmed that it doesn't work. Are you using v1.02? EDIT: Now Steve said it does work. I'm totally confused. It does NOT work for me. You on a Mac? [/QB]</font>
  13. That is not my experience. In the Editor my units have less than Maximum value for their ammo and I may set the ammunition they get. Then in the generated QB I find those values I set the unit with. This way I may change the experience level of the unit and set its ammo to the % which comes from rolling the corresponding parameter value. 14. Enjoying immensely. Once again thank you all actively involved in the B-Rules. [ March 10, 2003, 03:44 AM: Message edited by: Seahawk-vfa201 ]
  15. HauptmanFuhrer: Herr General, a dispatch from Berlin - General Hawk: Let me have it son - Uhmm, listen up my Officers" "Skill Promotion Herr General! Your consistent good results are wonderful to see! You will be pleased to learn that I have submitted your name and those of a number of your men for medals and promotions. Now that we do not have to coddle you so much you can expect to see a drop in the amount of external support you receive" General Hawk: Now, look how these burocrats sh!itheads work. I have just refused to fight tonight tonight as well. We need a rest, we deserve a rest. We did a wondeful job and what these spoiled bratts comes out with? Here, keep the good job going: get few medals and less support and be happy! Fuc&, fuc& the medals: GIVE ME MORE SUPPORT!!!!!" I HATE BUROCRATS!!!! With these words and with a killer sight in his eyes Herr General Hawk left the Officer Quarters which have been arranged earlier, after the battle, in the main Gast Haus of the village. The Officers didn't know what to think. Men were tired, some sick and still recovering from few wounds. Less support in the following days was certainly not going to be good news, especially if men came to know about it. They were sure they could recover no more than few men in the couple of days before a new battle order was received. The night was finally on them, few houses still burning, the smoke, the occasional cry of the wounded, some shot still fired: maybe one more unlucky Rusky joining his ancestors? In the distant the Genaral Hawk was checking upon his men, surely wondering which one would have been left behind in the next days...
  16. Roger that: so far no mistakes. This was my first battle where squads were depleted. I had them out of the map at first turn and suffered the moral penalty.
  17. Problem with Biltaid: July 1st battle, Axis support indicates division type as Airborne. Both QB and Editor does not allow to have Germarn Airborn on July 41.
  18. But if you remove that unit in the editor you do not get the morale hit you get when walking it off the map at turn 1. I think that moralew hit is a nice touch. </font>
  19. This is the south front, not the central front. You're not going to Moscow </font>
  20. Hi Peter, Moving Depleted units off the map only happens after an Emergency Reorganization - and then only after the reorganization has 'filled up' as many units as possibble. [...] Note 5 - Casualties to make this clear: "Handle partial units such as men missing in a HQ, squad or team missing from the initial setup because of the Casualties (23) parameter like normal casualties of combat: MIA//frostbite/gonorrhea etc. etc. They still take part in the battle!" BTW - if you go into battle with seriously depleted units (after an emergency reorg) it is sometimes better to run in stead of to stand & fight - just as in real life [...] Biltong </font>
  21. Depleted unit can be handled if they are not HQ units. removing a depleted squad/team can be done.
  22. I feared you would have said that I guess this next battle is going to be tougher: I have a full platoon depleted. But going strongly the same: All the Way to Moscow. Deutschland Uber Alles!!!!!!!!
  23. Question for Biltaid tool: The next battle sees support unit casualty: NONE. If I go instead to my Battle group some units do not have full men. Shall I reduce the number of men in unit with the editor? ie take casualty into account in there? Or is my battle group full as casualty parameter is none nonetheless?
  24. Not in my nature In the first couple of weeks of Operation Barbarossa the Germans advanced huge distances. On an average day they would advance until they hit resistance - deal with it and then carry on with the mad rush forward till the next battle. Biltong </font>
