  1. I've tried to test mods on DCMF but is far to complicated.

    1)

They don't MODS the same units

    2)

Some of them MODS are for special weather conditons only

    3)

Some of them do alot of detailed work on the front of a tank - some of the them do alot to their behinds.

So - to test this you have to do following:

    a)

Place every CM unit on a map

    B)

take a screenshoot of every angle of the unit in zoom mode 1

    c)

do it again in zoom mode 2

    d)

do it again in zoom mode 3

    e)

then switch army and start all over again!

    f)

When you are finished - write over the bmp directory with some new mods and start from entry a)

    Any one interested?

  2. Now I really want to push my luck!

First - I really dont know much about LAN so let me be excused if my question is strange.

I play PBEM against a MAC user! Think about it smile.gif I'am currently receiving MACMAILS!!

    (Can that disrupt my computer?)

Can we play CM-LAN against each other?

    I'am serious - can we?

  3. Hi Pillar! Thanks for your reply but I most confess that there is a whole lot of a picture about setting'up units in the scenario design editor that I don't understand. First issue is how? wink.gif I can't see any buttons or icons that enabled me to do any setup within the editor. Where do I need to look? (Manual, page, previous posts ect.) I feel this is a very stupid question but I'am totally failing to see where I do the pre-setup of units. redface.gif

  5. BTW - I read Fionn's Open Terrain After Action Report at combathq. His roster included:

    3 Pz II Lynxs

2 x SS Motorised Panzergrenadier Platoons

    Sperrbrecher Element:

    4 x Elite King Tigers.

    Manoeuvre Element:

    3 x Veteran Panther G (late)

Infantry and AT gun Suppression Element.

4 x Crack SS Motorised Panzergrenadier Platoons.

    12 x Regular StuH42s

Artillery Element for the support of the Manoeuvre and Infantry Suppression Elements:

    3 x Veteran 150mm FOs

    6 x Regular 81mm FOs

Does anyone have a glue how many points that roster ended up with? Didn't bother to calculate myselfe. Whatever it is I can't make it fit into 3000p. Is it a 5000p? Combined, Armoured or what?

  6. Your right but I didn't formulate my answer as good as I want it to be. There is a word for aggresive reconnaissance (Oh my why haven't you got an english term for that, all that french spelling make hurt my keyboard) - recon! Thats it! Aggresive recon is when you are sending a force to perform recon activity. Their prime task is to get in contact with the enemy and if it's weak enemy, smash through. However - if the enemy are strong, retreate back to defensive positions and wait for backup. This behaveour is also called Engage. That really what it's all about: Strong armored units performing recon mission to round up the enemy force so it can feel the hammer of arty or hwy tanks. Not all scout missions at nature needed to be weak in force. It depends all about whom playing their cards.

What really matters is - did the aposing forces had this kind of Aggresive recon as doctrine back in WWII?

Enough of this - back to CM. What would be peferrable is a way to instruct your unit to move fast and get into contact with the enemy, if the enemy is stong - fall back. It's quite simple. What I really think this thread is all about is to simplify micromanagement.

In my opionion it is not my first priority for the wishlist for CM2 but together with an extended command list it would sure be handy to have near by. Taking that into consideration I agree with the originally poster of this subject.

  7. Get the picture - Hasbro ship their ASL to the public and then you folks come around. With your head full of tweeks and idears you start to share them on their board. Hasbro then fire everyone and close down their board and sooner or later you receive their ASL code by email.

    I can't remember where I had this coming wink.gif

  8. I think that the proper word would be Engage not Skirmish. Have yo played to much SB lately? I agree with your point of view however. When playing CM, I sometimes want to put my mobile scout units to some use. Therefore I set a couble of waypoints around every obstracle in the scouts path to the rear end of enemy lines. What I had hoped for but don't get is, that when these units gets into throuble they redraw to a safe place as soon as they realise they are outnumbered. The Sneak command cannot be used effectivly with mobile scout units because performing scout missions also relys on speed. You want to learn about the enemy territory and his positions before he can deploy his units. But you also want your mobile scouts to be alive long enough to collect this information. In CM you always need to make a decision whatever you want to move you scouts fast or, you want to move them safe. Put a waypoint too far ahead and they are toasted.
