1. I've thought about the grids and I think they make the game more realistic. If you were on the battlefield you would be able to see with your own eyes good hull down positions. There is of course no pixellation or low resolution images with your own peepers. In an abstract way it gives you proper vision. In real life you would always be in camera 1 with a map. Plus you would be ******* bricks.
2. Doesn't it piss you off when after you post your message you notice a spelling error. To top it off the images don't show. http://24.43.29.24
3.
quote:
Originally posted by IntelWeenie: Are you implying that anyone on this forum would take undue umbrage with your opinion?!?! I was under the same impression until I actually got stuck in a REAL (Suadi) desert. There are all sorts of contours, hillocks, wadis, etc. It's definitely not a billiard table (like some games make it out to be). CM's map contours will be very welcome! Ranges are extended, yes, but most tank guns of the period wouldn't be accurate at all past 2000m or so (shorter barrels, lighter rounds).

I've been to Egypt and desert sand dune are huge. There would be a lot of close action. Those dunes were 10 to 15 meters high. You couldn't see your opponent till you were right on top of him.
4. The Italians suffered from inflated fascist ego's "Dreams of being the new Roman Empire" they (Mussolini) got caught up with Hitler's dreams but couldn't deliver. They had no fuel, no trucks, old outranged artillery, tanks that would explode 100% of the time, shoddy uniforms. Let alone the fact that they had at least three different calibres of rifle ammo to supply. They did not lack bravery, in fact with the crap they had to fight with it is amazing they could even launch an attack. Here are some tragic figures from the Greek campaign: Italian dead 39,000, Wounded 115,000. Greek dead 13,800, Wounded 42,000. The Greeks are tough bastards. They turned those Italians into souvlaki and served them up on a pita
5. Does that mean in CM3 if your playing as the Allies and your against the AI as Italians, that the AI will surrender at the first sight of one of your units. Being Greek I'm looking to kick some Italian butt. Hopefully the Greek army will be represented. I can't wait to show my Italian fiance when I decimate the Italian forces.
6. I had a VIC-20 with a tape drive. Used to take half a hour to load a game.
7. Are you sure it's Combat Mission your playing and not Close Combat IV?
8. My total was $79 CDN and change for one copy of CM. Worth every penny.
9.
quote:
Originally posted by *Captain Foobar*: Moon, My main interest is in solving the villers-bocage syndrome, where wittman reverses his turret to shoot at broken crews, because some stuart dropped smoke for 30 secs in front of him. Being able to area fire into that smoke would possibly keep this from happening. Does anyone agree/disagree with me on this?

When Whittman does that bonehead move I area fire in the direction of the tank with the main gun. It wastes ammo but keeps me from getting wasted. I usually try to knock down a building while I'm waiting.
10. I got a pleasant surprise today. Went to the front door to check for mail. Looked for the slip to pick up CM from post office. Nothing. Then I came onto this message board to see if anyone had recieved it yet. Read about it be directly delivered. I ran to the door and low and behold there it was. Just installed it. Can't wait to play as the Canadians.
11. This game shows how hard it is to kill something with a flamethrower. I also find that getting kills with the AT infantry is totally dependent on being at the right place at the right time.
12. Sorry about the last post I searched and found out how BTS feels on that topic.
13. Any chance that there will be a the ability to purchase then download CM? Lots of people have Cable or ADSL and hundreds of MB or no problem to download.
