  1. Dell has 4 8gb files to download to boot from a flash drive. Thats what im working on now. Im on file #2 and so far no luck

2 more chances. If not I know someoe who I can give food stamps to to try to fix this. If its a BIOS issue at least Ill know and can work towards that goal.

When i try to restore without a thumb my comp does see the HD and even tje free space.oddly I connect to my wifi and then i get an error sayin my comp doesnt support that feature.  It doesnt help googling this has about 200 different solutions and its hard to figurre out which. Im tempted to try some solutions but VERY WARY of breaking my comp - Im in way over my head. If this was circa 2000 and a tower Id be much more able but even thwn a rank amateur. With a laptop and 20 years later Im almost a danger to the computer..  Im not entirely sure but some of the suggested fixes to try seem like they could catastrophically screw me.

I *CAN* access my bios now it seems getting a boot file that my comp will boot from. The one today it saw the thumb it saq the files but wouldnt work.

    P.s. thanks for the answers

  2. Its definitely a boot or OS issue. The laptop works. The comp sees the HD down to what was open and what was taken but it says my comp doesnt support the auto restore. No details were provided for which 8gb win 10 image to download and it was a process finding a local computer I could physically goto and use for this (my friends arent the gaming types. Its my dirty secret they all know I love history though)

So I got it and the image didnt work. I tried setting it on unsecure boot it didnt work. 😕

  3. Yes both US and Russian squads overwhelmongly use their 5.45 or 5.56 quickly and its very important to grab enough not to run out. I guess its also a habit from using Wehrmacht troops where if that Mg42 goes silent the squad is at like 1/4 firepower.

I had seeing my LMGs run out of ammo amd because everyone has assault rifles IME its always easier to find egular assault rifle ammo somewhere anywhere where say STG ammo in the WW2 titles and 7.62 is harder to just find..

This said I load my men down with everything I can. Rocket launchers UGL roads everything I can. Everyone doesnt play how I do either.

^ I'd have left that up too.

Just because you build a statue of someone, doesn't mean it had to be a celebration. We can also have statues of things we want to avoid.
It's about public remembrance. Keeping some things in mind.

    I'd say that's a matter of opinion.

It's that whole historical relativism thing I talked about. Caesar was not an unusual man for his time. Our modern sensibilities say one thing about Caesar, but if you study his life and actions by the standards that existed at the time he was alive he's hardly a saint, but he's not Satan either.

In a way, you have illustrated my point better than I could. Gaius Julius Caesar made a mark upon the world that history cannot erase. His accomplishments remain remarkable, even two thousand years later. His achievements are worthy of REMEMBRANCE. I'm not saying we should create some creepy religious cult based around worshipping the man, but I shudder to think the day someone may try to erase him from public knowledge for nothing more than their own sense of wounded vanity may not be too far away.

im all for remembrance as long as its not rewriting history.  This goes for straight up erasing the past which is one way the extreme left would like and then you have other ways such as rewriting history the far right likes. Guess we are still going down this road.  Okay let’s ask this then. How about if it were a statue of Hitler?

All statues are not equal, all locations for said statues are not equal. It is a very subjective discussion that has to be in context for it to be worthwhile. A general discussion of whether or not a statue should or should not stand has to be predicated on something real.

The erection of statues post civil war was not about historical relevance but political intent.  If we were talking a stature for the surrender at Appomattox I doubt there would be much debate.

The point of the civil war statues is looking at WHEN they were built tells us more about them than what the statue itself is.  Of the some 1500 civil war monuments most were built from 1890 to 1930. From a historians perspective then, the fact that they are civil war statues is less important than historically what is going on from 1890 to 1930.  That is the point of the debate.

So you have a couple things going on here that are relevant.

1 monuments cost money. They don’t produce a return so it was unlikely that these statues would go up until there was an econonmic resurgence in the south

2 civil war veterans are starting to die off and it is natural for folks to want to remember an event that had the greatest impact on their lives

3 Jim Crow - need I say more?

those 3 options mean different things to different portions of our society and reflect on our priorities. White folks have a view of those statues and the civil war conflict. Black folks have a view of those statues and Jim Crow. They are both to some degree true. Our ability to appreciate the difference in those views and show some empathy for alternative perspectives is one thing. Being manipulated by particular views that have their own political agenda is a whole other issue. Those weren’t historical society members marching with tiki torches in Charlottesville.  At the same time those tiki toting morons do not speak generally for folks interested in civil war history.

Agree. Also when it comes to say blatant misinformation I dont think the statues should stay up - as is the case with the now gone Texas state house plaque declaring "it wasnt a rebellion" (oh? So johnny reb isnt a good name? Southerners always love rebel referebces but them say they werent)

"It wasnt about slavery" ( bull )

It was about "states rights" ( yeah. To have slaves and leave the nation when you dont get your way and attack the feds?)

    Ok done. Sry.

  6. My comp( dell I can PM details) is stuck in an auto repair loop. Im out of warranty territory by a few months.

I dont have the money to pay the customer service people to fix it on the phone. My comp is missing the windows 10 image.

Does anyone know where I could DL a 8gb image? I tried the library. No one I personally know is able to help as far as I know ATM.  Does anyone have any ideas or B would anyone if worst comes to worst be willing to accept a small amount of cash, money for shipping, and allow me to mail a usb drive for the image to be downloaded and sent back? I dont have much but I can compensate you somewhat

  7. Haha. You speaking of dreams my reality last night was an epic pc crash and i seem to be stuck in the dell win 10 auto repair loop. It cant it cant revert, it wont install win10 amd reformat. Totally at a loss all i can think of is gettn a flash drive and downloading something to hard reset. Almost 200g of stuff gone. Fml

  8. No it just shows we.re the true Yankees. Yankees are known for their laconic dry humor, and common sense.  Why call something thats cheese + steak a hoagie? its a cheesesteak.  Your chosen cities eccenricity is shown out in every 80s movie that takes place in it (rocky, trading places) and the fact it was Ben Franklins chosen spot.  Bostons famous for a different sort 😃

Finally its not the Irish American cultural capital.  Need I say more?

  9. Note the volume of fire. This is what I meant by as much violence as possible. Though its more efdective in real life - psych stuff is stronger, noises have more real effects on and on, for a less experienced player the sheer deluge of fire could be enough to overwhelm or demoralize such a player who in turn could make poor choices.

Now imagine if Id done it right and had a DsHK actually firing, a couple of RPG29 teams that mever got used using their thermobaric rounds, and a SPG further away that perhaps if not get all its ammo off more than one single round! I was pretty rusty these first pbems and made some old rookie mistakes - this isnt to denigrate Lethaface hes definitely a better player than me. Tbh most are.  Special mentions also goto GazNZ, slysniper, IanL is am excellent player. i never played Bil H or some other famous guys. Mkjerner and Nidan1 are excellent players as well... Obviously.

In fact Ive met very few poor players most the players I considered poor was bc gameyness or what I consider less than honest gaming. If i start a QB and I immediatwly can open direct fire on my enemies entire setup zone no matyer what theyll do i wont let it ride. Ill want another battle and im saying somethkng. That was my issue with one person. Another shamelessly used map edges after months of arguing with me that the avrams was so OP. that all a US player needed was to buy Abrams. He tech ically won the battle at heavy price but only by shamelessly usung rhe left map flank and then and only when reaching the rear edge pivoting and using that too.

He was banned because he was someones sockpuppet anyways. I got tired of hearing it from him tho esp because I played Redfor a lot. Blue is deadly. Its reality. However BS Redfor in capable hands can beat blue and if not can consistently make blue pay more than any country since Germany in CM
