1. Hi

Is it ok if I use the CM2 screenshots you gave to SimHQ to make some wallpaper for the community? I plan to modify them a little, add some Russian tanks and stuff. Shine it up a bit in Photoshop and release it to the community. I can add a small note in one of the corners stating that its not an official picture, but modified by me. I will never say they are official screenshots, and I will never use them for commercial purposes.

Let me know what you feel about this matter.

Here is a little preview in low resolution:

PS: The KV-85 tank is taken from the Panzer Elite mod "PzPack2" made by the Lennort brothers. Visit their homepage here: http://home.t-online.de/home/erik.lenort/

    Which storyteller is that from?

The only problem being that during 1942 they did not build any KVs at all, and only a handful of T-34s. Instead they were busy building lowly T-60s, T-70s etc.

    Overall, another ill-informed impression.

"For the second half of 1941, only a little more than half of the planned output of tanks was managed, the total production for 1941 beeing 6521 machines(2996 of the T-34)"

Skipper, would you call 2996 T-34 tanks "a handfull"?

  3. Hi

What kind of player would cheat in this manner, and why the hell do they do it? I play alot of tcpip QB's and quite often we let the computer select our forces. I sure do find that more challenging and fun. If you fear that your opponent might do this to you, I suggest you find yourself another opponent. Come on, who needs this kind of crap anyway. If they are that desperate to loose, I sure dont want anything to do with them.

I have experienced cheating in multiplayer a couple of times, and I simply stopped playing and told my opponent to get lost. I also wanted to publicly accuse him on this board, as a warning to others. I didnt do it then, but I sure will if I experience something similar again.

I find most of my opponents in the chatroom on CMHQ, and they are great people. Of all the games I have played there, I have only experienced that 1 cheater. We dont play for ranking on some ladder, we play to have fun. Aint that what its all about? If you are sick of this kind of behaviour, I suggest you head of to the chatroom on CMHQ for some honorable tcpip gameplay.

    Cya there,

    Heinz

  4. Greetings

The Russian tank formations suffered horrible losses during the early part of the war. There were of course many reasons for this. The Russian fielded mostly T-26 and BT-7 tanks early in the war, both armed with a 45mm gun. These tanks were not really that bad, compared to their counterparts at the time. What it really boiled down to was the lack of experience among the tank crews and higher command. Many of the tank crews had never driven a tank before, maybe only a couple of times. Excersises were indeed few and far between. The Russians simly had so many tanks that it would be impossible to train all the crews.

During Barbarossa the Russians lost a good portion of their old tanks. This lead the way for full production of the T-34 and Kv-1 models. One can almost say that the Germans did them a huge favour, destroying their old less useable stuff.

It was not untill 1943 that the Russians modernized their tank crew training programmes. They finally realised that tank crews did indeed have to be fully training in order to work properly on the battlefield. From 1943 and onwards the Germans encountered better and more prepared tankers than before.

In the early war phases of CM2, Russian tankers should mostly be of conscript or green quality. It will be interesting to see how it will work out in the CM2 engine. Will the veteran German tankers kick the crap out of the conscript Russian tank hordes?

    Lets wait and see.

  5. Greetings

With all the hype surrounding CM2 I have to ask myself if it will live up to the very high expectations. CMBO is the best tactical wargame in existence right now in my mind. It has its faults, but no other game get even close in terms of realism when it comes to WW2 44-45 west front action.

I think CM2 will be much harder to get right than CMBO. There are many reasons for this, I will name some of them.

    1. The timescale: 1941-1945

There will be many units to model, and big changes in the Russian army when it comes to leadership and tactics. The two sides are very different and have to be modeled seperately.

    2. Urban warfare

Urban warfare played an important part in the warfare on the eastern front. Stalingrad.

    3. Trench warfare

Much of the combat on the eastern front consisted of good old WW1 style trench warfare. Foxholes will not do it, we need real trenches.

We all have very high expectations for this game and I think BTS really feel the pressure. I am sure they will do their best to fulfill these expectations. Maybe this pressure is healthy for BTS. They might just produce the best wargame ever.

Just some thoughts on a tuesday morning.

    Best regards,

    Heinz
