2.
quote:
Originally posted by Splash: I just want to report personally in for the Super Newbie Tourney: I've received Pfc. Dunsel's 11 turn move signed and sealed. (I was out for the evening) I wrote him earlier to tell him to take as much time as he wanted cause I may take the full 72! So all you quickie boys (I understand that it is truer -- but not in my house) are gonna have to RELAX!!! I believe we are fulfilling Ted's wildest dreams for this scenario. As I mentioned to Pfc. Dunsel (before receiving this move) we have entered a death spiral. I've been joking about the party and what I meant is that everybody will meet everybody-- one comes with broken and scattered and the other merely traumatized -- it will be all over by move 13. Everybody double check everything you say -- I say I don't want to look at your cards but if your going to SHOW THEM to me well... Mentioning types of troops is CRITICAL. I did not use that information at the time (that is I didn't look at point values or firepower) so was working under my first assumptions of which Ted has written testimony. I'm a subtle guy be thankful that Dunsel is so good.

Splash, Good points all around. Thanks.
 3. Here are the first results from the Newbie Rejects: Sir Uber General (German, 51) and icedog42 (Polish, 49) played to a draw in Blind Man's Bluff. Congratulations to Sir Uber General (barely)! This was the first battle where only insults were exchanged by the troops. Apparently the Germans were able to hurt the Poles' feelings just enough to get the edge. 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Commander: ...those boys from Spain can kick ass!

Commander, No-one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
 5. More results from the GV Newbies: Rucrazee (French) defeated Stormhouse (German) by a score of 58-42 in Mighty Mouse. This was not enough for Rucrazee to overtake Stormhouse's lead from the first leg of Round 1. So, Stormhouse wins Round 1 with an overall score of 102-98 and advances to Round 2. Congratulations to Stormhouse!
 6. More results from the GV Newbies: Leta (German) defeated Commander (Polish), 71-29 in Blind Man's Bluff. Leta (French, 54) and Commander (German, 46) then played to a draw in Mighty Mouse. So, Leta wins Round 1 with an overall score of 125-75 and advances to Round 2. Congratulations to Leta!
 7. Swamp is making it easier for everybody to visit Combat Opinion.
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by Vadr: Excited...Ted means Excited. He hasn't exited yet...

Thanks, vadr. Only Lord Dragon has exited. The rest are still excited.
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Colonel_Deadmarsh: Don't get too attached to Combat General. We're just babysitting him till his parents pick him up.

Col. D, CombatGeneral is a Player in the Newbie Tournaments. To be perfectly fair, he has been a model citizen of the community and he is very excited to be in the competition. I expect he will do fine (win or lose) and come away with a better appreciation for the CM community as a whole. But, then again, I suspect all of us who are involved in the Newbie Tournaments will feel the same. Just ask Vader's Jester. Message edited because I was too excited the first time... 10. Mike, Did you qualify for the loser's bracket?
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Vader's Jester: Austin Bowe and Dize, Hurry up and kick each other's tail so that I can smash the pathetic victor you!!!!!!!

VJ, Actually that needs to be addressed to everybody in Round 1, since Round 2 won't start until Round 1 is complete. 12. More results from the GV Newbies: Hawk (Polish) defeated dfgardner (German),75-25, in Blind Man's Bluff. Congratulations to Hawk!
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by newlife: By the way, what are the rules to "Blind Man's Bluff"? I mean the real life game, not the scenario.

Newlife, I'm glad you asked! There are actually several variations on the game. Here are three: Southwest Educational Development Laboratory ParentCenter.com Funology.com. Enjoy!
 14. Panzerman is almost ready with his holiday offerings at The Scenario Zone.
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Zitadelle: ...Also, for those fighting the next battle, you may want to refrain from posting any details on units and keep things somewhat generic. Thanks for the intell from others, I know that I will be facing Pumas...

Guys, I would like to emphasize Zitadelle's point here. It's okay to post comments, but be careful about revealing too much information. It can make a big difference. Thanks.
 16. How about Jeeps and Kubelwagons? It's demolition derby time!
 17. Okay, here is more information than you need: Average age-32.58 Age Range-12 to 64 Countries/States Represented- Australia Canada England Finland Germany Netherlands Norway Scotland Spain Switzerland United States-Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusets, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Washington. That's all I have to say about that.
 18. Leta and Pfc. Dunsel, I'm glad you guys are enjoying yourselves. It's too bad the same can't be said of your troops.
 19. Ligur, There are three brackets, with 16 Players in each. So, there are 48 (actually that's 47, since Lord Dragon has already been eliminated) playing.
 20. Harbinger, If you are using Windows, they go in your Bmp folder. Make sure you save the old bmp files before you overwrite them.
 21. More results from the SuperNewbies: Lord Dragon (German, 51) and Vader's Jester (French, 49) played to a draw in Mighty Mouse. This was not enough for Lord Dragon to oertake Vader's Jester lead from the first leg of Round 1. So, Vader's Jester wins Round 1 with an overall score of 106-94 and advances to Round 2. Congratulations to Vader's Jester! [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: SuperTed ]

 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Lord Dragon: Also, Can I ask what the average age of the participants in these tournaments are? Just curious, I'm 31 and was wondering if most are around my age and/or younger?

LD, I'll have that informnation (and more) in the next day or two.
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by Lord Dragon: SuperTed, Vader's Jester and I are going to run our second battle this evening. Was just curious as to what i should set the time limits too. We are gonna go tcp/ip. Should i set them to no limit? This is what i am thinking.

LD, No time limit is fine. It just means that the turn starts when both players are done with their orders. For some added tension, you can always set it to 1 minute.
