1. Ok, I finally got the CM area of my site up and running. I don't have the scenarios up yet, but I do have the other sections running. I'll get the first few scenarios up early this week. Feel free to send me hero and pic submissions if you've got em (once you check out the site and see what I'm looking for...). And for you SF1945 pilots out there, I also updated the aircraft sections with several new skins. http://www.geocities.com/mac_world_war/ ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 2. Ummm... oops I guess I could have included the address too... I've been working too hard http://www.geocities.com/mac_world_war/ Sorry guys... ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 3. Long time no see all I just wanted to let any interested parties know that my website is finally finished... kind of. The basic structure is up and running, although I haven't gotten my CM area finished yet, so it's still on the way. But in the meantime, you can check it out, bookmark it, and get an idea of what's coming. Oh, and it IS a site geared toward the Mac wierdos, so Madmatts need not apply Oh, I'm just kidding, you new BF.C employee you... you can check it out if you ever have time. ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 4. Believe me, I'm not irritated. I just think it's kind of... dumb, for lack of a better word. And again, for all you people who are responding to this thread, thinking it is current, I SAID THIS IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR! This being September, there shouldn't be much response to this thread, and I was mighty surprised when I got the e-mail that someone had responded to my post from JUNE! Yes, now there are a lot of new and interesting topics on the board, but at the time I wrote this originally... in JUNE!!!... it was very relevant, and if all the newcomers since JUNE! had been here then, they would have seen the relevance of it. But now, being SEPTEMBER!, it is no longer relevant. So, before any more people post and say how pitiful or negative Musashi is, please, please check the original date of this thread... if you haven't heard already, it was posted in June, almost three months ago. But I'm not irritated ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 5.
quote:

Ok, I admit it... I don't get it. Have newbie members begun resurrecting old, obsolete posts? Or is this some attempt at a joke? Or what? I haven't checked the board for weeks... been too busy playing CM and working on other projects to care... but if this is all people can think of to do here, then I guess I haven't missed much. Except for PEIPER's offensive tirade, which I'm very glad I missed. But if the relative newbies think this post is comical, you should have been around when it was fresh and meant something... ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 6. Well, I'll warn you ahead of time, I predict that 1.01 will be slightly more difficult. Of course, a lot depends on the weather and reinforcements... I haven't personally played it after I made the minor changes, so hopefully it's not overkill. E-mail me and let me know what you think when you finish it. And that goes for anyone else who's played it... it's a work in progress, and I love to get feedback, good or bad. ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 7. Wow, thanks for the kind words I tried to make it pretty immersive, more like an RPG or a directed mission than a tactical battle. But then I tried to put elements of tact in as well. And if you enjoy the 1.0, you might want to save 1.01 under a different filename. It's got a few differences, so you might just want to have both to choose which one you like best. And as far as the load times go, yes, that's a limitation of the average to slow comps. I've got a decently fast machine and it slows it down too. But thanks for the plug ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 9. Hi all... Just wanted to let you know that my Sea Lion op has been updated and tweaked and submitted to the TGN Depot for approval. Hopefully it will be up and around soon. The update addresses a couple of potential problems with the scenario, making it more difficult and more intense. I also submitted my Magnificent Seven scenario to the site, so if you haven't tried it yet, you can wait for it to show up there or drop me an e-mail. Thanks! ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. Meet the situation without tenseness yet not recklessly, your spirit settled yet unbiased. 10.
quote:
Originally posted by XPav: no one buys flight sims anymore, the chance of one being ported is low low low.

Well, as I said, supposedly MS FS2002 is coming for Mac, but I'm not all that excited about that. FS2000 runs decent but not fantastic on my brother's PC, and he's got a pretty sweet setup, speed and card-wise. The only hiccup with X-Plane (and it's a big hiccup) is the price. It's $79, which is a recent major price drop to compete with the more mainstream sims (it used to be $199!). But it's by far the best sim for Mac, so if you're into that sort of thing, it's well worth the money. I just enjoy flying my Me262 Schwalbe all over the countryside Brings back memories of Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. -sigh- ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 11. Hi all... I just felt compelled to pass the word on the latest version of X-Plane for Mac. I'm not a big flight sim buff (combat sims, yes, flying around with no one to kill, no), but this X-Plane is really good. Microsoft's flight sim is coming to Mac in 2001 (supposedly), but if it's anything like FS2000 for PC, I'll stick with X-Plane. The frame-rate and graphics are really optimized for Mac, with the only drawback being you need at least an 8mb video card, which may squeeze some low-end guys out. But I'm running it in 1024x768 on my iMac DV G3 400, and it's very very nice. The most impressive thing is the speed... it really flies (pardon the pun). Fly! for Mac is all right, but it doesn't run nearly as nice as this one does. Check out www.x-plane.com to get the demo... 60mb, but worth it. Of course, as I've posted on here before, if you are in the mood for a WW2 shoot-em-up, try SF1945... it's a nice little sim. The graphics aren't fantastic, but the gameplay is pretty addictive. And the multiplayer is free (unlike Warbirds). It's at www.dogfightcity.com . Anyway, I just had this on my mind and figured I'd share. ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 12. I've gotten mixed results with AI aggressiveness, but you might try (if you haven't thought of it already) adding a couple of extra large objective flags. I've heard that the AI gets a little more feisty if there's a really important sopt (i.e. more than one flag). I don't know to what degree this is true, though... it may be as was already said that the AI is being tentative because of low force strength or something. Is the AI set as the attacker? ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 13. Yeah, but it all depends on how little tanks are used. In one scenario, I was down to 2 Lynx against a Sherman et al. When the Sherman advanced too far and was somewhat isolated, I ran one Lynx along a road in front of it. It popped away at the Sherman, doing nothing but annoying the crew inside, while my other Lynx ran at full speed to the Sherman's flank. It took two shots with the little gun, but they took out that Sherman. It's all in the tactics... or maybe, it's not the size of the gun, but how you use it... ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 14. Ok, I understand a little more now Well, without giving too much away, the map is fairly big. It's designed to be a quick, long push overland. But the individual battle parameters restrict the map to a fairly small size, relative to the actual overall map. This, combined with the fact that the early battles are designed to be easy as the Brits and Americans prepare their real defensive lines after their initial confusion, means that at least for the first several battles the map will be very dynamic and change each time. I won't say any more about that until I know you've finished this op, but without giving too much away... the map may stop changing so radically each time if you happen to run into an Allied attempt at a counterattack. ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Rommel22: I love the way you split the maps, it feels like I am actually advancing trhough Britian. from the coast and further inland. How did you do that? Anyway i got up to the third map, with medium casulties, but I think i killed every single Brit and Amis. The first battle is awesome, knocking out the guns and so on, feels like an actual mission and battle plan, not just a firefight. In the first battle I only suffered 8 killed. The forest fights in the second map are also very good. Those pesky stuarts do get anyoing, but my shrecks and panzers took care of them fast. I got to the third map, haven't started playing yet, but I already control the huge town, and the map looks wonderful. looks like another country-side fight coming up. Just awesome operation!!!

Well, thanks for the kind words. It means a lot to me to get praise from the Desert Fox As far as my map splitting, I'm not sure what you mean that I did, but at least the end result worked... I meant to make it feel as though you were working your way inland. The trees get thicker, the terrain more diverse. The same thing could be said about the level of opposition, but that's all I'll say about that But again, thanks for the good (initial) review... I think anyone who hasn't tried it would enjoy this one to some degree, especially the first phase, which I tried to make unique and different while still keeping it tactically challenging and interesting. ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 16. Well, I sent off Sea Lion to Colin, so it should be on his webpage in the near future (or whenever he gets a chance to update ). It will also be posted on my own website, which should be up and running by the end of next week, hopefully. I will also be posting all of my other scenarios on my site, and included in that will be the D-Day beach landing and breakout op that I'm currently working on... And, until then, if anyone wants Sea Lion, Magnificent Seven, or any of my other stuff, just drop me an e-mail and I'll ship it out lickety-split ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 20. Ok, I think I'm caught up again getting it to everyone who's requested it. As far as posting on the depot, I thought about posting my scenarios there, but I haven't gotten around to it because Matt requires that the files be zipped. I just haven't downloaded MacZip or one of the other zip utilities to do it. And besides, I'm currently working on my own website that will offer all of my original scenarios for download as well as additional aircraft skins for Skyfighters 1945 and some other goodies. It should be up and running soon, I'm just agonizing over the design of the page right now But for now, the easiest way to get my scenarios is to email me directly... it's absolutely no bother for me, but I can understand why some people may not wish to give their e-mail address, etc. But anyway, if there's anyone out there that hasn't asked for it but is interested, just drop me a line and I'll send it out immediately (or as soon as I make my periodic e-mail check). I also still have my Magnificent Seven scenario available, and that one has gotten very good reviews from some very reputable testers. If you're interested in that one as well, just let me know. And thanks again to everyone that's shown interest! ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. 24. Hi all... Just wanted to let all the interested parties know that my Operation Sea Lion op (which simulates a hypothetical German invasion of Britain) is ready for general use. I just received word from one of my talented playtesters that it looks very good, especially now that I tweaked a few things he suggested. Just post a reply to this thread or e-mail me directly to get it. Thanks! ------------------ In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm.
