  1. A german film called Stalingrad (two guesses what it's about) if I remember rightly used real T-34s. I really do recommend the film, it is accurate and as enthralling, if not more then Saving Private Ryan. I saw the English dubbed version, but I have to say that it was dubbed very well. Now go and whatch it!
  2. $10, sorry mate I'd rather play the game.
  3. Does anyone know how well the voodoo banshee works on CM; is it any better then the voodoo 2? I just want to know because I have a v2 and a banshee, but I still haven't had the chance to download the gold demo yet and I really want to know whether the banshee is up to it or not. (don't ask it's a complicted story why I haven't done so yet). [This message has been edited by Owen (edited 06-13-2000).]
  4. what is you've got with Real Majorca German boy, England have never played them. Remember Germanboy, two World Wars and World Cup!
  5. I'm just wondering how big is a operation in the game, will each be the equivalent of the Close Combat 2 size i.e. a battle, in that case Market Garden or are they on a slightly smaller scale; so for instance will the Battle of the Bulge contain two operations. I'm starting to ramble now so I'll stop.
  6. I've got another interesting fact, more British troops were killed by the Americans then by the Iraqis. Reminds me of an old joke my Grandad used to tell me.- When the Germans bombed the British, the British would duck. When the British bombed the Germans the Germans would duck, When Americans dropped their bombs everyone would duck. [This message has been edited by Owen (edited 06-04-2000).]
  7. Perhaps I'm not doing it correstly ut to get in a hull down position I just roate the vechile. I saw a reviewer writing this monthes ago in a preview, but I can't understand how there is a problem in gaining hull down postions.
  8. I just checked out the games domain web site (www.games-domain.co.uk)the strategy reviewer there has stated in his weekly note that he just recieved his copy of CM, this is what he said: "Going to E3 can be rather like eating a very rich chocolate cake; you pig out on a lot of games, have a great time, but then don't feel like even looking at another one for quite a while. However, in contrast to the pre-E3 release drought, we're now about to see the games flowing again. The most eagerly awaited of these is probably the WWII 3D simultaneous turn wargame Combat Mission, which has now finally gone gold. It'll be available for purchase soon at a price of around $50. My review copy arrived this morning, and naturally enough installing it was the first thing I did after getting home from work. On what I've seen so far of the final version - the last I saw of the beta was back around beta 52 or so - it looks like it'll live up to expectations. While you can try the Gold Demo for yourself (see the GD Demo section), it's not until you get the real thing, with a myriad of missions, plus scenario generator, that you can begin to appreciate the scale and scope of what's on offer. It's a truly staggering game, and one which while not to everyone's tastes will certainly attract a whole new breed of wargamers" Hope I havn't broken too many laws in using that piece. But anyway this CONFIRMS TWO POINTS, firstly that CM is and will be a great game. Second and perhaps most importantly that CM is finished and started to be published or what ever you call making the CDs; and people, if only reviewers are recieving them (although as Steve has already said the manual is'nt ready). I end this note stating; TISSUES AT THE READY BOYS(and perhaps the odd but very rare girl) WE'RE IN FOR A STICKY SUMMER, and I ain't talking about the heat. 9. Germanboy (I presume your German but relised Coventry has much more to offer then anything the Fatherland has) if your so adamant that Germany are going to beat England then put your money where your mouth is go to flutter.com place a bet (not done against a bookie) place 1:1 odds and I will take the bet up against you. I think even you relise Germany are going to crash ad burn, if you call Shevckenko and Rebrov ****, then good help your coffin pushing team.
  10. Excellent can't wait for the Ladder system how and where do we sign up.
  11. Yeah that's what I meant, but if you could pitch British troops against French troops that would be cool.
  12. Londoner, groovy baby, love the joke. On a serious note though lets have a battle of the nations, even if its just so we Brits can spank some arse (repeat arse not ass). Oh yeah one more point who saw the England-Ukraine match, again we were spanking arse. I will know stop talking about arses; over and out, tally ho, smoke me a kipper I'll be back for Breakfast, keep the tea on the boil. [This message has been edited by Owen (edited 05-31-2000).]
  13. still relapse or no relapse I reckon that is a wicked idea. (wicked as in good, although some lives could be lost and many would spend a large chunk of the rest of their life in jail, but everything has a price). [This message has been edited by Owen (edited 05-31-2000).]
  14. I know nationality doesn't matter particularly, but I just thought it would add a little more spice to it. Besides Euro 2000 fever(football competition, or soccer for others) is gaining a grip of me, which is probably why I want a battle of the nations, but hey it's up to you lot. 15. Yeah lets flip the lid and push the red button and watch the map of America disappear, only kidding wouldn't really want to do that; honest. Want I wanted to say is why don't we have a battle of the nations using Combat Mission as our weapon. If the idea is popular we could take the best CM players from each country (has a league been organised because that would make the decision of who competes much easier); and have them battle it out using a knockout style competition to see which country/player is the King of CM. If thereare enough players get Germany, France etc.. involved. [This message has been edited by Owen (edited 05-31-2000).]
  16. That sounds like a f**king execelent idea, it has to be made. I recon the taking of the town would be a good idea although it would be hard to move the Americns into such good positions without being spotted so you might have to give them a few extra men to compensate for this.
  17. Got to say Rupert I have never experienced the delights of Southport.
  18. I was just wondering who joined the forum/heard about the game in the last month or so. I'm interested to see how many gamers are joining the CM ranks. Where did most you find out about the game?
  19. I'm from the Wirral, nr Liverpool, Scouse massive whistle whistle.
  20. But now I can't see my last reply(the saying, "emergency over"); this is really starting to piss me off, does anyone know what the problem might be? However one thing that I have noticed whilst writing out this reply; is that I can see my last reply in the topic review(the saying, "emergency over"). Strange, very strange; someone please help.
  21. emergency over (I hope), I can see my replies, thanks G2A
  22. I can read my post which is something to be happy about I suppose.
  23. I have posted two replies, one to Madmatt's update and one to the krautt question; however I can't read my replies. They have been posted because the reply count has gone up on both. Could someone go and see if they can see my replies and post me back here (hopefully I can read this post). Does anyone know what the problem might be? I'm using someelses computer but I don't know if that has anyting to do with it.
