And the second to the left is Michael Palin right?

If you're refering to me I said I wanted it to be as realistic as possible. I've also recently discovered you can't enter buildings, there's no onboard mortar units, engagement ranges seems a bit short (this might even be overblown critique) and no ability to dig-in materiel or infantry. I guess there's a few more that I can't remember atm.

I think BFC-Steve sums it up pretty good:

Is ToW the be-all-end-all game for the most serious wargamer? No. Is is close enough for the serious wargamer to be thrilled with it? You bet.
Based on what I've seen so far this is definately not CM regarding realism, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be a great and fun game. Given time there's no reason whatsoever this game couldn't par CM on a realism scale. Just give us the game already and put out an addon or a few realism patches later.

Lastly I'm not so stupid that I forget who my friends are. It's not like I got dozens of good wargames to play these days. Most of the games today are dumbed down for the average joe with hitpoints and resource gathering. Like I said before any criticism on my part is based upon love and not intended to be ill-natured at all.

Will I ever be pleased with the realism in a wargame? Probably not.

you mean it will be "kinda dissapointing" but also "this wargame will rock"

and that "this wargame (will) flop" or be "a perfect success"....but even if it flops and disappoints it "will still ROCK!!!" ?

    Hmm.

Personally I think ToW will be much much better than all those games out there that are much worse.

  4. A tank crawling with infantry is a juicy target for an MG. Very high concentration of troops on an elevated bullseye. If my men drove into battle like that I'd shoot them myself.

Ok for strategic movement, but too dangerous for tactical. Should put it in though so I can wipe clean some enemy afv's in multiplayer :D

  5. That means in my German game my infantry will run around with PPS machineguns :D

If you pick up say PPS machineguns (from the German side) will you start the next mission in the campaign with it? If you do will resupplying be a problem or will you start with an empty weapon?

That's one of the famous Soviet pocket-cruisers. In river warfare standard doctrine was to hide behind trees, hence the size. Then again I could be wrong :D
  7. CC2 was the best imo. Still remember some intense fights on the Zone where it wasn't decided until we got a few men left on both sides.

Especially remember one battle where my German foe had two cats (of some sort) left while all my armor was gone. He got cocky and rolled them forward to finish me off. Then almost simultaneously both brewed up :D Had a piat or zooker team hidden through the battle plus a fresh assault team with demo charges. Infantry could really shine in that game if you used it right.

God I hope ToW will have the same tense multiplayer experience.

  8. The devs got nothing to be afraid of. All this criticism (or constructivism if you like) only shows that the community cares and that's always good. It's not like I would be bothered to go to the C&C forum nagging about unrealistic Tesla tower power consumption (or any brainless rts game).

People care and want it to be as realistic as possible because they got very high hopes for this game. At least I do after following it for a few years already.

After Il-2 Sturmovik 1C has already made it into my personal hall of fame mental notebook. Any criticism is based on love and not ill-natured. Well enough praise, now go and fix those buildings :D

  9. I think it's kinda silly when BFC is trying to downgrade the tactical importance of buildings to infantry in WWII. I've been a member of this community for a long time because of it's no corporative 'blue-suit' bull****.

It might not be a game killer but it's definately a huge letdown, just admit that. Personally I would delay the game the time it took to get this very important feature right. Also keep in mind a simplified 'enter building' feature is better than none at all.

Now with that said I will probably buy the game anyway, but this just doesn't feel right. Sorry.

  10. I bought Codemasters Soldiers and had to install a crack-workaround to play it. Took me several days to get it to work. I won't buy any other games with Starforce after that (unless it's the mother of all games or something).
