  1. How long do the different campaigns last, by the way? In number of missions, etc?
  2. So you have to go online to use the campaign, but you can still fly your pilots against the AI in it? Just trying to clear that up.... :>
  3. Is this problem happening in the campaign, or only in single missions? I only have the demo so far, and am interested in getting the game if the offline campaigns are good. But if they're stacked against the human player (since I only plan to play offline) that could be an issue for me... I know it's not a "real" simulation, but was hoping for something at least close just for my own enjoyment.
  4. Are Down in Flames and T-72 available in computer game stores as well as through the website? If so, please let me know which retailers have them, as I've seen some of the Combat Mission games in EB Games, etc. Thanks! :>
  5. Hello, I'm having a problem on the demo in training #2, target practice. When engaging the second group of targets, I can't use the mouse to control the gunner, only the less-precise arrow keys. However once I use the arrow keys the turret tends to spin in on direction constantly and can't be corrected (only over-corrected)with other keys, even trying the "5" key to neutralize. If I switch to commander and ask the gunner to engage, then it behaves- but if I switch back to gunner it starts spinning again. However this problem has also happened in the commander position- my view keeps spinning around and can't be corrected. The zoom also doesn't work from the commander position. Any suggestions? Since this is the demo I figured I may have missed something. Thanks for any help...
  6. Thanks for those answers. I thought there must be a way to alter vehicles as people had made mods for CMBO for early war vehicles and other eras. Is there a list of the german translations anywhere as well?
  7. I've searched alot of the CM sites and haven't found anything to answer these questions, so here goes: 1) Is there any way to edit (hex or otherwise) vehicles in the game to change to size of their guns, armor etc for custom scenarios? I wanted to model the Panther II, which didn't see service before everyone in berlin started quaffing vodka. 2) Is there any way to change the availability dates of vehicles in the game? I had wanted to use T-26s later than the game allows for another custom scenario... 3) Anyone out there done sound mods to replace the voices with English ones? I'm afraid I can't translate what they're chattering about. I keep hearing something like "My cheese!" from the Russkies, wondered if that was similar to the good old "My leg!", though would have expected that from the French honestly... 4) Any way to change the names of the ranks for the soldiers in the game? I searched the exe file and found the soldier names database, but couldn't find "unt" or "ser" or "obg" etc like I expected. Thanks for any help with these... I've been playing Battlefront's Strategic Command for the big picture and then doing the "personal" level of the battles with Combat Mission BB, and wanted to model some of the "improvements" I made that weren't historical... :>
  8. Is there any way to edit troops or such in Combat Mission to simulate a lower tech level, like say 1600-1800s? I'd love to have the troops fight it out hand to hand, and/or have poorer "guns" that were more like muskets or bows. I haven't seen any mods that do this yet, and was wondering if anyone had a link or suggestion to simulate this. The great map editor in CM would be perfect for my purposes, I just need to downgrade the tech level... Any help appreciated...
  9. I had two bazooka teams crouched in houses on either side of a roadway as a Panzer came their way. I got them to ambush fire at the same time- one's bazooka only hit the tank with no real effect. the other guy, a green unit, set his building on fire with his bazooka! The tank mowed him down as he ran screaming from the flaming building. The other bazooka missed, twice, and ran for it, out of ammo. I had to have an entire squad charge the tank and crawl on it with grenades to take it out.
  10. Wow, this has grown! I was originally applying when it was a two player game, but now it's grown! If there's something available for a subcommander that fits into the parameters I gave, sure, give me a yell. Pillar, can you have the computer just make up random maps? that would save you a lot of trouble designing them. Something I'd like to see, though it's very "gamey", is someone running a campaign starting with hitting the beaches on D-Day. Each person runs a group of soldiers in this massive effort, and their fates. When it's over, the survivors grow and continue in their battles through the next year, maybe splitting into pairs for subsequent battles. Would require lots of work/multiple gamemasters, though.
  11. I guess responding first to the topic didn't help as I got shuffled aside pretty fast. I could do several turns in one day, but probably not all in one predictable stretch- like every night. In other words, I couldn't do and email 5 turns every night between 7 and 11 PM. However most days I could do a turn at 7 AM, then one at 11 AM, then maybe 2-4 of them between 6 PM and 9 PM. Such goes my schedule here. If anyone is starting a rpg where they have a loose schedule, please let me know. I'd start one myself but don't have the time flexibility right now. Thanks...
  12. I'm interested in playing (either side is fine), if this is a rpg that usually won't expect me to do more than one email turn a day (I've got an active toddler here) and allows for sometimes a weekend off when we go camping, etc. Also I'm not ex-military so I wouldn't have accurate looking reports, and no time to compose them anyway- I'd be rather informal. However I'm an experienced roleplayer involved in several tabletop games as well as live-action games. Are you planning on raising the combat skill levels of some units that do well, etc? Anyway, if you might want me: email me at cws1@concentric.net
  13. Great game! I made a map of my hometown and am having fun defending it from the invading German forces. Two questions: 1) How does one save movies of their games to view the action later? 2) How can one one copy a map made in a battle to an operation? I want to use my big detailed hometown map but don't have time to comepletely redo it for an operation... Thanks CWS
