  1. Thanks Ski, I think that will be the explanation for it. SySShockeD
  2. It's the second time I noticed this. After making the AI surrender the number of captured men is higher than the number of his men actually still on the battlefield. Anyone else noticed this? SySShockeD
  3. I don't think it's really important but when playing you're own campaigns you may use the number of total men OK for further battles. But I fought a battle againstthe computer and don't understand the results the computer gives. After fighting a QB against the computer and he surrenderd (AI with a probe mission (600p)) I searched the computers units left (just an unharmed bat HQ 4 men) that was the only thing left. The strange thing was that the computer said I had 7 men captured and that there were 2 of his men OK. I don't know if this data is also concerning units that left the battlefield. I got the autosave at the end of the game if anyones interested but can someone clear this up when exactly the computer counts units as OK (when captured?, left the battlefield?) Thanks SySShockeD
  4. William Thiel, jst to complete the matter. DU (U-238) radiates as we both said earlier alpha (helium nuclei) radiation, I'm not sure about the beta (electrons and sometimes positrons) but you checked so you're probably right according to my boss the really dangerous radiation is coming from natural fission and radiates neutrons but this happens around 70 times a secong for one kilo(!) of U-238. Thought you might like to know. Wouter
  5. Sorry maybe I shouldn't but I do want to make a reply. As solid state chemist I know a little about UD there's even research on various compounds containing UD. The problem is that not enough research is done on "toxic" effects of UD. We (as a Dutchman) saw that with an official commitee of the government investigating the Bijlmer catastrophe were UD was found as counter weight for the airplane. Many people who should know said something entirely different but probably it should be something like this: of course it's a hazardhous material BUT on the other hand it's toxic effects are pretty overated. It's not really poisonous but aspecially the dust particles are pretty bad and of course when those particles are in your lungs they won't come out anymore and cause tissue damage (just like asbestos). The radiation is af course not good (both alpha radiation and natural fission) for you but you receive more radiation by sitting in the sun in for example Australia or flying a lot at high altitude. But when it's in your lungs it continually radiates without anything blocking it. Alpha radiation is already blocked by a few centimeters of AIR. I discussed this with my boss who actually works with the stuff so don't say I'm not well informed. Wouter PS I'd much rather swallow mercury than lead or UD mercury is only really poisonous in it's vapour state. It just comes out without doing any real harm, but don't try this at home .... you could choke on it.
  6. Sorry guys should have searched better so it's 10 min reloading assault mortar 360 mm or so? Wouter [This message has been edited by SySShockeD (edited 02-26-2000).]
  7. CM 43 - The attack on BTS Featuring an attack on BTS when Charles and Steve reported that the game was finished and ready for shipping but the post office was burned down. Charles and Steve defend themselves by shooting the attackers (everyone) with copies of CM. Reinforcements consist of Madmatt and Fionn. 8. He Sarge, this subject was already discussed: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/001581.html Hope this gives you an answer, SySShockeD
  9. Happy New Year everybody and this is the year we're all been waiting for because : Combat Mission will be released!! You probably all forgot this, he SySShockeD
  10. Ordered it two weeks ago and was told that the international mail order would take *at least* 6 weeks. So every time I check the site and the game doesn't have an official release date, I'm pretty happy because I don't have to read all the mail about how wonderful it is while I haven't got my copy yet. But for all you guys out there I hope it's coming soon. SySShockeD
  11. Thanks Fionn and Steve, it doesn't really feel right for wooden buildings (I agree 10 min is rather short) but I didn't saw one burn down so I take your word for it Fionn! [This message has been edited by SySShockeD (edited 12-16-99).]
  12. Another question about sommething related that I couldn't find in earlier posts (I did search!): do burning turn into rubble after some turns? I saw building in Last Defence catch fire after an artillery shell hit it and burned for more than ten turns until the comp surrendered . It was of course a wooden building but after around ten minutes of burning there shouldn't be much left of it.
  13. Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition! (sorry, haven't had time to learn some proper HTML)
  14. Just read the post from John, I can only agree. Give us the game as soon as possible. SySShockeD [This message has been edited by SySShockeD (edited 12-06-99).]
