1. D'Oh! You didn't tell me you were launching it from the CD Six! You should turn on classic view on your start menu and I bet there is a CMBO group and a way to start it there. The XP Start Menu is funky, and for a guy like you, not the most intuitive Sir! Did you try the manual install on CMBB? Grab the files notated in the install issues thread? BTS is there a way to make that sticky like on vBB?
2. I agree! BTS Do Somefink! p.s. Jesus Odd, I registered here before you???? [ September 27, 2002, 01:12 AM: Message edited by: Rookie ]
3. Honestly, Bank the money and save for a new system. For PCI under 100 you're looking at a TNT2 M64 or a Radeon VE. Neither one is going to gain you much on a P2 400.
4. You install the Daemon Tools, and it makes a fake Mountable CD ROM on your system. You use CD Mastering Software like CDRWin or CloneCD to make an Image file on your HD, You "Insert" that image into the virtual CDROM and install and play the game from that drive. It basically spoofs your machine into thinking it has an extra CDROM. You can make as many images as you have space, and just swap "Images" instead of actual CD's. This one is free, as opposed to many commercial CDROM Emulators, and works just as well, if not better..
5. You can always make an image and use Daemon Tools. http://www.voodoofiles.com/3433
6. Maximus, While on a whole I agree with you, Its a whole lot easier for you to spend other peoples money than it is for them sometimes. And If you're buying, I'd like a GeForce 3 to replace my Crappy GeForce 2 Ultra and a DDR Mainboard. Thanks
7. I'm afraid Odd is all tuckered out and in bed, but he can be reached at cholmes2 at mediaone.net (replace AT with @ of course). Don't worry, he can thank me later. And don't let him near any armor assets, whatever you do Oh, Here's his bio off our webpage [ 04-28-2001: Message edited by: Rookie ]
8. What Oddball says, Its Do-able. It just takes a little extra effort. If two chuckleheads like Me and Odd can handle it, anyone can
9. Six, Personally I do not like a trackball, tho many swear by them. I use a basic 3 button Logitech Optical Mouse so I don't have to worry about it picking up cat hair and dorito crumbs. I do, however use a Gel wrist pad for both my KB and my Mouse. The consensus of all the smart people I know, including Bullethead is that Logitech makes a damn nice trackball. I also noticed at my electronics Boutique that they were carrying a mouse similar to the "Dr Mouse" we have discussed in the past. Of course it's not listed anymore, but here is a link to 3M's Website on the mouse. ------------------ -Rookie Cactus Air Force Homepage
10. Moosehead, I have the program, and while it has its uses (I use it for multiCD Games mainly) its not perfect either. It chokes on Safedisc 2 and a few other protections, Eats up gobs of space and basically just adds another layer of complexity thats not always needed. I prefer to clone my CD's and use them. Its all personal preference., and it seems, if he already has the burner he's not really incurring any added expense upon himself other than a 25 cent CDR. 11. Try CloneCD ( http://www.elby.de/ ). If your Burner is compatible you should have no problems. Moosehead, Maybe he does not have HD Space to spare? ~Rookie [This message has been edited by Rookie (edited 03-26-2001).]
12. Agreed, all the big boys are too proprietary. If I were to buy a built box it would be a Falcon NW or a Alienware. They offer similar warranties to Dell and use parts you can upgrade... I just have to say My 1Ghz Athlon homebuilt smokes any of my friends prebuilts by a wide margin, and is alot more stable.. ------------------ -Rookie Cactus Air Force Homepage
13.
quote:
you were making good sense and points till you ended with that

Well, I am here too So its not that bad. I was just a bit torqued. Its easy to bash a game thats not out and I was agitated... ------------------ -Rookie Cactus Air Force Homepage
14.
quote:
Originally posted by aka_tom_w: no demo? NO THANKS!

Have you ever played a Flight Sim Demo that was good? Mig Alley Demo=Major Suckage. The game was great. EAW Demo=Buggy , Full Game, Fantastic. EECH Demo=Boring Full game, Flight Sim of the year candidate. Just to keep things in perspective. Companies other than BTS make quality products and run different business models. So don't knock it till you try it. If it ^&%$ing Sucks balls I will be the first one crying foul, but since I have not played it yet I can't knock it yet. This board is filled with elitests and snobs. ------------------ -Rookie Cactus Air Force Homepage
