  1. Well, I can vouch that skipping rounds works (at least on concrete/asphalt). I've seen first hand a demo of an MP-5/40, full-auto, skipping the rounds up to knee-high level. Good for shooting at suspects on the other side of a car. Works real good with .12 ga buckshot as well... ------------------ Jon Johnson Steel Lightning Productions
  2. Another excellent reply Fionn! If all of the American, British and Russian troops who committed atrocities during WW2 were labeled 'War Criminals', we would not have had quite so many 'War Heroes' come out of the war. To the victor go the spoils and the loser goes to the 'war crime tribunals'. ------------------ Jon Johnson Steel Lightning Productions [This message has been edited by NCrawler (edited 09-06-99).]
  3. Is it possible to just shoot surrendering troops? I mean, it happens in war and there are some situations where I would not want to take prisoners if I did not have the manpower to manage them. Of course this goes both ways and if your opponent finds out about it he's sure to do the same to some of your men. Perhaps some type of variable dealing with morale can be increased for troops whose comrades are shot down like dogs? ------------------ Jon Johnson Steel Lightning Productions
  4. I used to purchase almost all of Sierras' titles, back to the days of Kings Quest 1. The way that they handled the FP99 situation has convinced me that they are just a bunch of greedy French corporate types now. They will never produce anything that I am interested in. I don't play first person shooters, I don't ride bulls, I don't race cars or play baseball and their air sims leave a lot to be desired. I think that I will stick with Microprose and SSI for my gaming needs. IMO, FP96 and FP97 were far superior to the bug-ridden FP98. ------------------ Jon Johnson Steel Lightning Productions
  5. Oh yeah, if landing craft were to ever make an appearance in the game, Omaha Beach would be nice... ------------------ Jon Johnson Steel Lightning Productions
  6. Personal favorites are any of the small battles which took place in Normandy shortly after D-Day. Anytime after June 6, 1944... ------------------ Jon Johnson Steel Lightning Productions
  7. Thanks for the prompt reply and I fully understand your position on upgrades. The only way that I ever buy software anymore (not counting games that I follow) is by trying the demo out first. I pre-ordered Football Pro 99 from Sierra, received a VERY buggy game and then instead of patching or continuing to develop FBPro 2000 as a replacement, Sierra cancelled all further production of the FBPro Series. They did this to pursue their Bull Riding simulations. I don't know about you all, but I ain't no cowboy and could care less about Bull Riding. I will never buy another Sierra product... Sorry for the OT; CM does indeed look good and the play-by-play between Fionn and Moon is really a good marketing strategy. Keep up the good work and as I said earlier, you can expect my registration after trying out the demo (I'm sure of it <G>). ------------------ Jon Johnson Steel Lightning Productions
  8. Although I will not pre-order the game (learned the hard way about that from Sierra), I'm sure that I will purchase it after fooling around with the demo. My question is this; after I buy the game, how will you handle upgrades? Will you give free upgrades for minor revisions and charge a nominal fee for major revisions, or will all upgrades be free for registered users? ------------------ Jon Johnson Steel Lightning Productions [This message has been edited by NCrawler (edited 08-26-99).]
  9. Would it be possible to make detailed explosions an option in the games configuration? Those of us with the machine to handle it would be pleased... ------------------ Jon Johnson

  11. I've read through the discussion on framerate and had just a few questions... I have a high-end system (P-III 550Mhz w/19" monitor) and was just wondering if I will get the Steel Panthers syndrome where everything moves so fast that it is unplayable. I guess my question is, is the game compiled into native win32 code or is it converted from something else to run under windows? Also will I get more viewing area with the large monitor or will the graphics just stretch to fit the screen? I've been reading through Fionn's play-by-play on TGN and the game looks pretty good so far... ------------------ Jon Johnson
