This might of been just a fluke, but it left
me in a bad situation. I have a AMD 1.4, ASUS
MB w/ GF 2 Pro. 512ram. I was playing along with
the demo and 'bang!', I was kicked to desktop
with something like 400x600 resolution(!)I don't
have my keystrokes down very well and it was
impossible to get to the 'settings/resolution'
screen. So I had to take it to the shop (I thought
my vid card busted). They knew the keystrokes
and got me back to a resolution that I could deal
with things. Now I'm afraid to play it again. Any-
one else had this problem or something similar?

p.s I'll probably give in to the danger. The
game is just too addicting:)

Thanks! Brain dead 'tis I:)

Thanks folks. Must be some new version then
I have ME (yes, I know...blech!). I will contact
the party that had converted it to html.
Thanks!

I may have forgotten, but isn't there
a way to come back to the AAR Stat page
after viewing the map?

Is anyone else not able to open this
file up? I keep getting an error message.

Good stuff as usual. Fionn's been a great
'teacher' of SOP's for many year's, and
in many arena's. Good reading and has me
wanting to fire up CM (I was just about to
return to OFP again:)--Thanks!

Re: Paul Carels, 'Hitler Move East'. Maybe so, it's been a very long time since I read it. I have
a recollection he might of been a former German
soldier too, but no bias really showed up. But I honestly can't remember.

If you can find it. Paul Carell's,
'Hitler Moves East'. A classic.

Well I've been playing on a 'old' P II 400,
but with a very good GeForce II card. But with all the mods and such, I get a 'twinkly' display at times and some hesitation when commands are executed. I'm finally remeding this with a Athlon 1.4 that should be showing up in about a week

I was just starting to realize that this must be the case Thanks!

Would someone please post the URL for this.
(and how I ordinarily would find it).I have gone into Boot and Tracks, do a browse or search. For the later I put in 'Fear of Fog' no hits. For browse I just get the demo scenario. Someone please show me the error of my ways!
Thanks!!
-
Wild Bill:O.K. I guess I'm a bit brain-dead, but could you post the direct link to 'Fear of Fog' and further explain how to find scenarios in your 'Boot's and Track' section. I'm lost!
Thanks!

Could you folks point me to the article you are referring to. I'm having trouble finding it at combathq.
Thanks/dla

Glad everything came thru o.k. BOTH of you take care.

Durruti: the + and - (i.e. plus and minus) keys tilt the screen in S:TW. Not much tho'.
I like the period quite a bit myself. However this is a great example of how much better CM's interface and pre-plan turns are so much better. Not that this interface is that bad, it's just CM is far easier (as mentioned). Still, this is a buy for me

Absolutely!!

Btw, of late I'm really(!) into Delta Force 2 on-line play. It's a blast!!

Gawd, that's along time ago and I've played quite a few good games. I think Crusade in Europe (VERY early Microprose title), East Front and yes, X-Com. Never really found a good, WWII tactical game if I remember correctly. I was thrilled with CC1 when it first came out, but...Same with CC2 (better).
Let's see, and I really enjoyed Road From Sumter to Appomattox. And some of the Battleground series (pbem).

Well I'm 52...but soon to log another 'mile'
I can't remember beyond a minute ago But I do remember to have my 'drink' with supper (can't trust the water you know), and have my brandy with coffee to make sure the food settles well in my ole belly My hands can't 'twitch' like they ... well they never could twitch much, so RTS was a bad dream come true. CM has brought back the joy's of what Squard Leader was to me 30 some years ago (or whenever (I loved Tobruk too!) Although I've pretty much played every computer wargame (and boardgames of yesteryear)around. Like ACW and Napoleonics too (plug!)

p.s. O.K. I flight-sim too when I can tell up from down...

Thanks Moon. Yea, I was getting tired at the infantry firing at 150 meters plus alot. I keep forgetting about ambush
-
First, I did a search on this and got one hit on artillery. What I'm talking about came up because of my readings of the Ardennes and playing Chance Encounter. As to the former, you read alot about how groups tried to hold, but were running out of ammo and another is trying to break-thru. Will this type of 'chance' be available in a DYO?
I'm sure some scenarios might have this (like the somewhat arbitrary show up of reinforces in Reisberg).
The other question is how best to conserve ammo. In CE, I'm playing the US and have quickly advance to all buildings and am trying to hold out. But ammo is low. The only method I 'see' to use is to 'x' any firing from a unit and then hide them. This isn't fool-proof by anymeans. But hopefully slows down firing some. Is there another method?

Gads! I second a couple of suggestions that I usually always wish for: bibliography and maps..for sure (with a little historical note for perspective Of course, there are several other notable requests
-
Well most of what I would like have already been mentioned. Contents page. Good index. Ring bound. There seems to be some argument about historical descriptions being included, but I have lot's of books on all arenas of WWII, but I would still like a brief description of what a particular battle that is being presented so I can not only get an immediate feel for what is being presented, but to know what the designer had in mind too. I really would like description of who is envolved and a OOB. I'm just echoing much of what has been said and agree with it: order descriptions, tactical hint's ...etc. As someone mentioned, CM is very intuitive, but there is alot of subtlety.

Well I came too late of the last post of attacks against Madmatt to jump in. But both Fionn and Madmatt have been phenomenal in their help and just plan presence almost 'everywhere' regarding CM and general help. IMHO both of these gentlemen are amazing in all they get accomplished, plus still take the time to respond to personal email for questions and help etc. That, with all that Charles and Steve are doing (sweatin' blood man) to get this game out 'right' to us is just, just, well damn wonderful.

Thanks folks for your comments. Had nothing
peculiar in my sys tray. And I have up-to-date
nVidia (well actually I heard there is a new
one out: 30.82). I did a couple reboots, but
forgot about the F8 so thanks for the tip/
reminder. I'll be ready if it happens again:)
I was running it at 1024x768-32bit (forgot to
mention that in my initial post).

p.s. btw, up-to-date with ME(which sucks. Plan to
install XP Pro in about a week with a new GF 4 Ti
4200 DDR w/128 and a 60gig Seagate HD:) Hate to
give up DOS tho'. Still play some 'classics'
