Welcome Wepps! I agree with what other folks have always posted. It's so true. I too grew up with 'lack of bit/byte' power and boardgames of old were my thang. Now these wonderful games are a dream come true to say the least. And as one other person noted, 'lost souls of wargaming' populate here and there are some wonderful, informative, often amusing threads. Just reading the forums get's one hot and bothered to get home
to play
Anyway's, have fun! (with the game AND the forum)

Greeting folks. I'm sure some of you have read or heard about the fantastic, hex-based Operational
game from SSG, Korsun Pocket is coming out this next week. I was wanting to get into the mood and play some tactical battles, but after checking a couple sites (and the default scenario list), I didn't see a one for this battle. Did I just miss it or...?
Donan
p.s. Hmmm, after reading the above it's a bit vague, so to clarify, I'm looking for some KP battles to play in CMBB:)

I just realized I should of made a seperate topic post then to bury it in another. So sorry for the 'double posting'.

Greetings folks. Louie, I did a search for Franko's True Combat Rules (which way back when I printed out, but be darn if I can find them now:)in this forum and went to your recommended CM Archive #3 (2001) and got 11 hit's or so and only one post actually had these (Franko himself posted it. Many other's supposedly had it transferred to their webpage, but defunct now), but it was a v. 1.1 (Oct. 2001). Is there a place to find an more updated edition?
Thanks!

Greeting folks. I know this may be old hat to
many of you (so bear with me), but as mentioned
in an earlier post, I'm 'coming back' after a
long while and never played this one before.
First time, slaughtered. Post my agony. Few folks
responded and one reminded me to search. Did so.
Perused briefly and gave it another whirl.
This is a great, fun, challenging (to me anyway)
scenario. Some thought it should of been the demo,
but I think it would of overwhelmed newbies.
I had most likely a Minor Victory but lost an
over zealous HQ and a Panther snuck in on me.
I had 4 flags (including the Church), but lost that one which gave me a draw (50/50). My AFV's
sucked:) TacAI got me once: I had a 'regular' go
hull down on the left flank where it had just
traversed a small hill, gully and then another
hill for the hull down. It took a couple shot's,
got two close rounds and a deflection and got
shaken. But instead of reversing just down into
the gully, it went down and back up the other
hill for 'target meat' of two panthers:(
As I said, my AFV's did poorly. I had an IS-2 (early)about 200 meters 'trading' shot's with a Panther. Both 'regular'. 3 shots to 1 for the
Panther. Geesh. However I had one(!) great vet
in an IS-2(early)stuck on a slope just to the right of the 'T' in town that had it's track's
blown first thing. But then it proceeded to kill
8 infantry, 2 Panther's and 2 Tiger's and
survived the encounter(!). Order of Mother Russia
went to that LT and crew:)

SPOILER:
O.k. Old hat to many, but I'm a believer of,
'if rusty, do the tutorials again'.
I've played thru turn 22 as Allies(Russian's) and
although I kinda think it's cheating to replay
a scenario, I'm going to do it 'cause I'm getting
whooped and badly (rusty or not, I'm stubborn:)
First tho' a few things from the 'Advance Tutorial'briefing. Second paragraph, half way
thru, '...Altough the Russian IS-2 has it's weaknesses, this tank is capable of winning stand-offs with German heavy armor...' Right. O.k. Yes, I'm new to TRP and I'm sure that whole ridge on
my right flank is zeroed in, but really. I had 2 of these puppies, hull-down, trade shot's with a Panther at 768 meter's and got toasted both times.
There's also a ATG in a fox hole (probably an 88) that is condemning the rest to leak oil in fear
after two, again, hull down, got toasted (this is a bit more understandable...maybe). Yes, one was 'green', other's were regular and veteran and barely got off a shot before reversing like it was a slope of butter:) So. How's every one feel about this?
Third paragraph 'crest' on the ridge overlooking the town is so good for my hull down tanks. I don't think so. I as much as peek with a periscope (yes, Russkies didn't have them but just making a point:) I was getting shell frags embedded like I was dough. It goes on to say how
cool it is to have forest on one flank so opposing tanks can't bother me and good launching pad for a flanking manuever for some infantry.
(if my boy's went out in the open, they get punished, for they are getting it just in the woods on the crest of the right flanks hill as it is).
And the left has this nice hill I should take asap to have a good view of the village etc.etc.
(I tried to bring a tank up, cautiously to peek and promply got nailed by an ATG...lol. )
Let me tell ya, from my experience, tutorial or not, (and maybe chance if set-up for the German's is arbitrary), but the set-up for the Germans, regardless of the briefing of being 'lightly held'
(yes, it can be false intelligence, but still), this village is covered better then...well it's covered WELL:) And in depth. (Tiger's and Panther's on opposing hillsides backing up at least 4 very well placed ATG's.).
Well there is my initial, '...what the ----...'
reaction. I plan to try again, and the heck with the ridge, I may try to squeeze a rush on my left thru a small opening and do a flank roll up and take on the ATG's singly or so and avoid the heavy Armor making the ridge a 'open cookie jar of fun'.
Even saying all this, it is still an exciting and
cool map. I want to crack it. I'm a gamer of old with much experience and I'm being toasted. Shame!

O.k. As I mentioned before, I haven't played
in a while (especially CMBB. CMBO alot, but
even tho' I bought CMBB when it first came
out, I wasn't in the mood for Eastern Front.
So the knew feature's in CMBB are just that,
new to me Anyway, I want to discuss a
scenario, but don't want to spoil it for
other's who have not played it. So...Put
scenario in the header with 'SPOILERS' is
the way to go..., or...?

...and also I blew it by not doing a
search first. My bad.

*Chuckle* O.k. Thanks Martin. Glad to know
at least in this one instance I'm not
looking at the world so much differently
the other's;>)
Thanks again (and quick response!)

Greetings. May I humbly request that you go back
to a strickly alphabetical listing for CMAK. The CMBB one of doing it in Sub Sections of the main
manual is driving me bonkers. Case in point:
Target Reference Points(TRP). I wanted to find
it and all instances of it. Tried under
'The Mission/Setting up/Order's for Set-up
Phase'. No dice. So 'Combat/Fire'. No dice.
As I peruse thru the index (which I do most
the time to make sure I've caught all instances)
I don't see it anywhwere (but granted, could of
missed it). If it was alphabetical I could either
see it was listed or not.
Thanks/Donan

Greetings. I'm not sure this is the place, not seeing a CMAK forum. Or for that matter wether it's just too early. But I remember in the 'old'
day's of Fionn posting some great AAR's of the beta of CMBO. Those were wonderful read's and had folks going practically nut's in anticipation ( I was one!) Has that started happening yet for CMAK?

p.s. Did a search and didn't get a hit.

Excellent! Thank you. Need to go dig up some of
these titles I have buried somewhere. I love
bibliographies by game designers (I use to get so excited on the old OSG boardgames (and a few others) that would always have them in the manuals.

Thanks Kingfish! That would be most
excellent.

Thanks folks. And I was just wanting to peruse
to see what is listed. But I am curious wether the Kursk Pack ever came out. And lastly (for now:) what would you recommend (4 or 5 give or take).
Thanks!

I've played CMBO from way back and CMBB when it came out. But to my weakness in other areas of RL and gaming, I've been neglecting these great titles. And for some reason, CMBB (and Eastern Front) hasn't been that interesting to me since my initial WW II gaming days a long(!) time ago where all initiates get into Eastern Armor:) But finally a friend of mine has banged on me enough to get back into it and see all the cool refinement's it has over CMBO. So... Anyway's, I'm wondering if there is a central place or two for mods and scenarios for CMBB. CM HQ seem's to not have CMBB material and I can't fine a recent link to Wild Bill and etc. Any help and information will be most welcome.
Thanks!

Yep, that's it then Dave. I'm pretty sure
it was an AH game.
Thanks/Donan
(I could search thru my old boxes filled
with 'ancient boardgames' Anyway, back
to topic. SC is a great game for us old
boardgamers. Thanks Hubert!

I must add my praise for A3R, in it's day. I too
loved that game. And amazingly poured over it's rules with relish to such a degree I became a 'judge/monitor' for several tournament games at
the UW. Alas, with age and such, I reflect on this as
incredable, for now any degree of rules that demand 'schooling' to learn I shudder at. I just don't have the mental stamina (or time) for it anymore:) I've barely gotten into SC yet, but
relish the endeavor. Have I missed any AAR's or
insight's to it? It looks pretty straightforward
and the designer seems to have done some amazing
support to this community, I just like all the little helps I can get to get me into a game quickly.
Thanks/Donan
p.s. Slight OT: I use to love The Russian Campaing
boardgame for it too had wonderfully simple rules, but played quite historically (darn, memory
problem, was this the title? I know there were two similar titles, but one was really great, whereas the other was mediocre.
No CMAK info for 5 months? Are we not due for a bone?

I must admit as a few other's have mentioned, that I miss playing the Brit's, Canadians, Free Polish, American's etc. against the Axis. I prefer West Front or Africa over East Front. Just haven't been in the mood for East Front in a long
while (although the new Matrix KP has me in a bit of a lie on that point Once CMAK come's out, I'm be very pleased indeed.
