  1. Its sad that all these people are now acting like a defeated Syrian when they finally realize they wont be getting thier way. smile.gif Maybe a scenario designer can design something that inks this into history??? Maybe call it Battle of the Whine. smile.gif

And Battlefront, arent you guys happy you didnt decide to make CMx2 an RTS in the year 3559? Can you imagine the backlash you would have gotten then?

  2. Since I am a stats whore, do you think it would be possible to add maybe to the online tracking your hit percentage and maybe total damage? What I mean is say you play a IMS1:1 and miss then play a IMS3:3 and hit, your % would be 75%. I dont know if it would be possible to do it with the code already in place, but I think IMHO that it would add a lot to the game. Maybe even a defensive area where it shows how HARD it is to hit you. So say someone plays a IMS2:2 and misses but then plays a OTS3:4 and hits you then you got hit 57%.

While I am on this subject, how about a stat where it shows how many times you were shot down and damaged.

    Thx,

  3. Another Question, Historically, how often did pilots get shot down anyway? Seems to me that good pilots didnt always face the best of the best of the enemy, otherwise the mortality rate would have been 99%.

Cannot for the life of me figure why fatigue is so brutal. I can see having to fly fatigued occassionally but ALWAYS fatigued isnt even rational. If it takes 6 missions in a row from other pilots to reduce fatigue, how can that be historical. Do these guys not get any R&R?

  4. Ok I dont have the game yet but one possible solution would be for wingys to have an attack and def rating (applicable only to drawing cards) as far as cards he can hold in his hand. Say if he draws 7 cards and his attack rating in 4, then he can only hold 4 "attack" cards at most, so that say IMS and OTS cards are in the attack category, half loop, maneuver, ace pilot, and sissors cards are neutral cards, and barrel roll, tight turn and vertical roll are def cards.

So if a wingy has an attack rating of say 3 and he has 2 IMS, 2 maneuver, 2 barrel roll, and an ace pilot, he is within the parameters but if he has 3 OTS, 2 IMS and 2 vertical roll he is not with in range, so the computer redraws until he is inside the range.

What wouldnt apply is if he gets xtra card draws. Only the base would be subject to the rule.

    Just a thought

  5. Ok some of you think that hell is when you are flying around at 20,000 feet and all the sudden the enemy bursts an OTS card on you, your pilot catches on fire, turns into a crispy critter, and meets the dude in red with a pitchfork...

    Thats not hell, THIS IS

I ordered the game on Oct 7th and the nice little feature to track packages with the us postal system informs me TODAY that my package has arrived. So you are thinking, whats so bad about that?

Well I cannot get the package as it isnt shipped to the door, its shipped to a central recieving area at the school my girl friend goes to.

No problem right? Well in a perfect world no. See the campus doesnt have an open mail room on sat or sun. Ok so no problem you can pick it up on Monday right? Wrong again Ace! You have to wait for them to deliver this little "pink slip" in the regular mail box and that takes 2-3 days!

So I am looking at Tuesday or Wednesday for a package that is less than a half mile away that after delivery time will be 13 days or so.

Here's the kicker.... We are dog sitting for this woman in this 10 million dollar beach house for the weekend and if you saw the view from where I am sitting here typing this and the sounds of the waves crashing you'd know why this is hell.

    Sorry for the rant

  6. Panzer Mike. My post was more in a general sense from all the stuff in other threads as well. And shots fired without anger are the best ones.

Sadly after seeing the screenshot they provided I was hoping they would design a FPS on the subject. I think they would make a killing if they did make one and then they would have more than financial freedom to make or not make these games. (I know if I had lots of money I wouldnt sit at a computer and design games, I would be in the Bahamas and "work" would be for the other guy). :D

I guess I am just saddened that people here would voice such opposition to a change in format. Change is usually a good thing and I recall back in the day when CMBO first was comming to fruition, people said the same type of crap. Then when it came out wargaming at least for me hasnt been the same. I didnt care much for WWII games until then. Sure I played them, but not like I played other types of games.

So maybe when this comes out hopefully you were all wrong and you can broaden your horizons

Besides I brought back BTS in my last post. Viva BTS! smile.gif

  9. Jesus Christ you guys are all 6 years old. "I am disappointed but I trust BTS". What kind of idiocy is that?

I have been just about everywhere the Army can take a man. 19 years hasnt even seemed like a long time. Syria is just another place on a map. Borders and nations really dont mean ****. A Syrian can just as easily kill a man as a Russian, German, Japanese, Korean, or for that matter, an American.

In 2007 for all you know Syria could be a legimate area of operations. Hypothetical is a funny word too since obviously most of you guys have never been through any military readiness excercises. THEY ARE ALL HYPOTHETICAL. Every single one of them.

Now did any one of you see into the future and see Afghanistan being a country we invaded? Do any of you actually even have any knowledge of to a man how good Afghanis are at soldering? Well sign up and do a few ops and tell me what you think afterwards...

And to think that the Syrians arent able to put up enough fight to counter a Stryker Brigade in an urban environment...

Technology only helps us fight the battles guys. We fight the battles with sticks and stones if neccessary. We are not so far advanced that we cannot lose to anyone, including the Syrians.

And since BTS has proven that they can make a very detailed and accurate representation of the games they have made, whats the crying for? I mean whats the difference in killing Germans in 1944 with a Sherman or Killing Arabs in 2007 with an Abrams? You still have to arrive at the battle and make the right decisions to win in any era of warfare. Every second of a battle is just a series of decisions anyway. Make the right ones and you and your men come home with you. Make the wrong ones and the opposite is true. Doesnt matter if you have all the bullets in the world if you cant make the right choices when the time comes.....

  12. Jack,

I have no idea what Ace of Aces is but I do know from being online a lot lately that there are certain hours where its busier than others. I never notice the "people who already have a game setup" online, and I think when the game gets in more peoples hands that this will change for ya.

Since I am always online, when I get the game (which hasnt come yet) I will be more than happy to shoot you down in any scenario we play. smile.gif j/k

My advice is to play the American planes when you are starting out though as they can take a few more hits usually. I still have problems lvling the Germans and Brits in the demo and am not looking forward to the Gladiators.

Good luck and watch your Sixx.

  13. Evan, no offense man but what kind of a reviewer would say a game is unplayable that was obviously built around an online theme because you have to unlock planes to fly them?

I do know from playing thousands of games and from being a beta tester for a major developer during college and from being a closed beta tester on 11 more that this game is far from unplayable. In your time reviewing did you ever play and review a massive multiplayer or RPG game? You have to unlock skills by gaining experience dont ya?

Your argument holds no water and I am glad you arent employed to review this game and turn off potential customers.

The on-line version can well have the learning curve and plane ladder. But to deny the full capabilities of the program to one playing off-line is a flawed design decision of the greastest magnitude.

To have to play 10 or more games with various pilots (due to fatigue levels) in order to reach another level of accessibility is inane. What happens when one deletes the program from his drive and then returns to it a year later?

This design is guaranteed to prevent future revisits to what could have been an enjoyable interlude.

As the game currently stands, it is literally non-playable -- although it can be played, the operative fact is that the off-line version is tedious, repetitious and dull!
