  1. Webwing.

"If you are just to change existing textures you definitely don´t need to do anything from scratch".

would the above apply to making a existing vehicle from camo to desert?

Sure thing. However from a flat color to camo is easier since you only apply the camou on top of it. From camou to flat color will take more work. Unless you have a clean template.

oh dam, webwing, would you know if MikeyD could post his pdf for download or could ya point us to his profile, that's if he's on here. please. would be great to get some source's to refer to.

    all the best

You should start a thread in the Mod forum. There´s a lot of people that can help you with this. This thread is not the best place, since people will not look in here often.

  2. Wow, long time I don´t come here, sorry.

I think MikeyD has a PDF tutorial on how to mod existing textures.

If you are just to change existing textures you definitely don´t need to do anything from scratch.

Find the texture in your exploded folder and load it on your favorite graphics program and start having fun! Then put it on your Z folder and see how it looks in the game.

Good luck and happy moding! :)

  3. Better give us more screenshots, just to be on the safe side. :D It's probably nothing, just the screenshot, not the model.

Are you trying to get me killed?! ;)

PRI Afghanistan Pimp My Ride edition.

This sure looks like an upgraded version. Better armor on the front and ERA on the sides. I´d be interested in whatever references you have of this upgrade, images specially but also data.

If you could send it to my email it would be really great.

We all want this guys to be perfect! ;)

  4. For those of us not exactly in the know, would one of you lads kindly describe each vehicle and the nation it fights for?

This is an initial set of vehicles images, but definitely not the complete list. Like others mentioned some of the vehicles are also used by other nations which will allow for some interesting mods! ;)

In the order of the pictures:

    CV9035 - Netherlands

    Coyote - Canada

    Fennek - Germany, Netherlands

    Lav3 - Canada

Leo2 A6 - Desert cammou and bar armor - Canada. Thinking about having all Canadian vehicles in desert cammou. If this happens then flat green should be included as a *bonus*.

Leo2 A6 - Germany and Netherlands (probably all green)

    Marder - Germany

    YPR - Netherlands

The YPR might get other(s) variant(s) other than the PRI.

As for the model, it was done to specs. I guess the screen was taken from a lower angle which makes it look a bit funny and too tall. But I´ll give it another look just in case! ;)

I can´t comment on how the CV9035 will be placed in the TO&E since we are still working on it. But if you guys think it doesn´t fit we can leave it out of the module, no problem! :D

As for red stuff, I´m optimistic.

  5. spearman_uk,

There have been quite a few threads about this. Differences between UK, US, etc. Tactics to use too. Mostly in the main forum area.

Since you are new to both the game and the UK module, yes it will take some time to get used to it. It´s actually very nice stage to be!

Here are some links of threads you might find interesting. Also check posts by flamingknives and Combatintman, 2 experts that helped get the module right! ;-)

    US vs Brits

    Impressions of the campaign

    First impressions of British gameplay

British Section Sizes VS Mechanised Squads?

    Have fun!

  6. Well Cassio at least is pulling for a Wiesel. If he gets his way, we'll have German light infantry of some sort at least.

You'd probably be insane if you didn't like the Wiesel. :)

Both Wiesel 1 and 2 are really cool. But then again all the vehicles used by the Germans look awesome. Even the older Leo2 A4 and the G Wagon have their charm!

  7. We´ve got a good selection of accents there. All genuine. Nothing fake.

There was an idea of releasing an X rated MOD version with loads of swearing. I remember one of the guys doing the voices sent me something like: "Die, you bastard!". That sounded great.

Unfortunately there weren´t enough of them for a full MOD. And it would have to be a MOD and not an official release.

  8. RecceDG,

From the size or your post, the amount of detail you go into and time you spent on it, it is clear you are very interested in mission/campaign design. You have very specific ideas of how a mission should be done and what would make them perfect for you. It seems to me thinking about mission design is more fun to you than actually playing them. And you know what? That´s great. I´m a bit like that myself. Good thing is the CM:SF package you bought comes with a great tool for you do missions just as you want to.

No, no, I´m not challenging you like saying *Hey you are criticizing the missions, let´s see if you can make better!* Nope, not it at all.

I think you are just missing something that could be a lot of fun to you. Creating scenarios is one the most fun and rewarding thing there is. And you paid for the tool that came with the game.

I have always been into creating missions and mods for games and I´ll tell you the editor in CM:SF is one of the most powerful tools available to players I´ve seen. A perfect compromise between easy of use and wealth of options. Why let it sit there and not give it a try? You don´t even have to upload anything to the repository. Do it for yourself. It´s very gratifying to put your ideas in practice and see how it works in game terms.

I consider CM:SF two games in one. The play area and the editor area.

Also no one will ever do the scenarios you expect. You have to do them yourself. I do scenarios because, I´m just like you, very specific about what I want. So I make them for myself and I do have fun making and then playing them. Most of them I don´t even *release*. Too personal. :D

Regarding the British Module campaign, it isn´t broken, so there is nothing there to fix. But let´s suppose we opened a discussion about things to change in it. We would never get to a consensus on what to change! Everyone has his own idea of what should or should not be done!

I was one of the lucky guys that saw the whole development of the Marines campaign and then was much more involved with the process of making the British module campaign. Honestly I don´t know how it could have been done better.

We had the best scenario designers in the community either doing standalone missions or missions for the campaign. Guys with military backgrounds, guys with a huge wargaming experience, guys worried about every detail and worried about doing their best so the final product would be great.

I´m very, very proud to be part of this team. I look at their scenarios and go “Wow, that´s great I´ve got to remember to do that in my next scenario!”. I´m always learning with these guys.

We had some old hands and some guys new to the scenario creation in CM:SF. But all have put a lot of time, effort and talent into it.

In the beta team we all tested and criticized each other´s work. I don´t remember anyone having a problem with that. There was a lot of respect and courtesy when doing it though. And that is so important, crucial really, because if you don´t respect the other guys effort and opinions how can you expect them to respect yours.

Anyway, RecceDG, give the editor a chance and you won´t regret it! ;)

  9. Minimum type of vehicles and weapons i would like to see in the german contingent:

    Dingo, Fennek, Fuchs, Leopard 2 A6, Marder A3, G36, MG3, MG4

I agree with you, apart from the Dingo.

German Bundeswehr forces MUST have a Weisel!!

I don´t know how this module could be released without them.

From the previous releases it is clear that all the main vehicles and weapons that are found in the battlefield are in the modules.
