Chicago Otto
I followed instructions for a full installation. With the CD OUT of the drive (and door closed), when I start the game, I get the following message: "No CD-ROM detected. Insert Combat Mission CD-ROM and retart the game to get full functionality. IMPORTANT: Game can only function if you did a FULL installation" The game does start when the above instructions are followed, BUT... if a "full" installation has been done, is it always required to have the CD loaded?
Mikeydz
CD is required to be in the drive to play except if your joining a multiplayer TCP/IP game. All other modes (Single player, hotseat, or PBEM) need the CD.
Chicago Otto
Thanks. Didn't know that. Upon your reply, I read the documentation more carefully and found the requirement on page 7. I have three brothers who all play the game (guess why I play now, too?) They never mentioned the "CD in drive" requirement. Since it has all been "pick-up" games for me, I have only referred to documentation in moments of extreme need. Finding my skills at moving around the battlefield in need of improvement, I started playing some solo games, which is what lead to my question. Thanks for being gentle about it. Regards, Otto
