ropey
Will reducing resolution help smooth jumpy game play? If so, how can I do it? ------------------ Never leave your mind so open your brains fall out.
Schrullenhaft
If the map is "jumpy" when you're moving around, then a reduction in resolution can help. The number of units and size of the map are big considerations in this, so a resolution reduction will not make CM consistently smooth. To change CM's resolution delete the Combat Mission Bynd Ovr Prefs file in the CMBO directory. Now change your desktop resolution to the resolution you want CM to use (i.e. - 800 x 600 or whatever you want to lower it to). Launch CM and you will get a black screen with a resolution and refresh rate. You can select this by pressing the Enter key or selecting skip to go to the next resolution/refresh rate. The maximum resolution that will appear in these selections will be your current desktop resolution.

Just delete the Prefs file, then answer "no" when the game propose your desktop resolution, it will then propose the previous lower res (ie 800*600 if it was 1024*768), then continue to drop - choose the one you want, just avoid "640*480 software" mode - unless you've no 3D card !
