AAR CG Tournament Fritz vs. Winti

To give some insight what is going on in the semi final here you can find some propaganda material from the offical war press.

We decided to play a mirror game with the standard 39 campaign.

Fritz (Axis)-Winti (Allies)

The German war machine is getting into speed, the heroic Polish army desperatly fighting without any chance as Mainstein is commanding the german panzer divisions. In the far east the situation is similar japaneese naval and land forces invading China. Great Britain and its allies are joining the war, and preparing to catch the german Pirates of the Caribbean.

Winti (Axis) - Fritz (Allies)

The game seems to be a mirror of the other one, similar moves at least in the visible part of the world. Chineese army tries a counterattack in the south but land forces with japanese carriers are stopping the advance easily.

1939 December

Fritz vs Winti:

The Danish and Belgian people are hoping to have the winter still in the neutrality, but military analyst suspect germans troops are marching to attacking position. According to unknown sources the OKW having some debate about transportation fees and troops are not using the express trains to go to the western front. Only some airshow is regularily on schedule over France. In China Foochow is taken early the rest of the defense line is still holding.

The German war machine is executing the plans with great precision, the advance in france is going well, extra marmalades are distributed to the front line troops to prepare the spring offensive. The japaneese are figting on a wide frontline, seeking the holes in the Chineese defense.

Fritz vs Winti:

Germany took France in April loosing a panzer in the process. In East Africa Italians are under pressure both air and naval supports are eliminated and in the top of that the letters and other goods sent from Italy is disappeard, godfather knows to where. The german paratroopers are moving into Denmark. German travel agents advertising England and the Great Pyramids to visit. We will see if they can gather enough volunteers. In China still only one city is taken yet but 11 out of 10 people prefer the winter and fearing the hot summer expected to come.

Winti vs Fritz:

UK DOW Italy in February surprising the Italian navy and within a few turns eliminating almost completly. French was resisting to surrender after loosing Paris to support the Med sea battle. British took Naples and with brand new machineguns attacking Tobruk. In China Lanchow is reached by Japaneese troops and the defenders having difficulties to maintain continous frontline, and loosing valuable pieces.

Axis heavily bombing Malta as the Italians wants a revenge loosing Addis Ababa. Of course his best friends helping them and showing how to build 3 times better submarines what the RN should not underestimate. The Germans are proudly marching their brand new super subs to the Atlantic but otherwise the Wermacht is complaining why to spend enormous amount of money to bribing politicians in Spain instead of starting some offensive elsewhere. In the east situation starts to become worst as Japanese using 2nd generation of hand weapons and the Chinese still using their knifes to hold the lines. In the mean time Changsha fallen as well. The only hope is the Japanese believe in science and also learning Spanish with the Germans diverting their effort to visit Chinese cities.

Winti vs. Fritz

Italians are still shocked by losing their Fleet and the British siege of Benghazi. Germans are showing up to help them with air forces to drive out the RN from the area, while still enjoying the uboot trips in the Atlantic, indeed trip advisors predicting rainy days are coming. In the east Japanese war machine are rolling forward and battling for Yumen and recently taken Nanning. Chinese are encircled and their counterattack to retake Lanchow is welcomed by the Elite expedition army.

Little break as Fritz was busy, but now we are back into action:

Fritz Axis:

Malta is fallen to Axis, otherwise Africa is still favorite holday place for the British, only Tunisia is taken. Germans belive in the best weapons are the good words and speaking about money to Franco. He is getting happier seeing the 1000+ investment into spanish economy from the Germans and Japanese. In the east chinese defense lines are fading and lonely japanese corps sightseeing in the north but in the south also major breakthrough recently pushed the frontline to the outskirt of the Capital.

Winti Axis:

German uboots working day and night in the Atlantic, Malta is bombarded constantly but the RAF using level2 fighters to welcome the visitors. In the Med after destruction of the Italian navy the north Africa holdings are also taken by the British, at last the german panzers arrived and killed the tank group which ruined the elite italian panzer division. The battle for Benghazi will be long rembered. The japanese army encircling the corps defending Urumchi, and as they are fond of circles the rest of the chineese army are sorrounded by them as well in the middle of china.

Fritz Axis:

Lanchow and all cities south of it is fallen, Chinese retreating and hoping that winter delay their wipeout. Japanese still silent only taken a few islands from UK and the attacking the corps in Rabaul with CA and Special Forces. US getting slowly involved only at 64%. In the European theater after Spain joined Gibraltar was fallen rapidly despite a big sea battle in the Atlantic, which ended up of RN retreat. In Africa combined Italian and German forces arriving to the Pyramids. Iraqi oil fields are secured by Allied forces, and Russia will take Persia next turn. Barbarossa just started with only 4 German units in Russia, lead by PzI tanks assuming Germans heard about cold Russian winter and they not want to run far this year.

Winti Axis:

The Japanese war machine at full speed taking all but the Philippines in SEA region, and US is only at 72%. China only having the 3 central cities left but the Japanese advance is slowed down. Barbarossa also started late, border cities taken, Russia annexed Persia. UK DoW Vichy and captures the French gold, also taking Syria, but Germans advancing to Alexandria with air cover from Greece.

Fritz Axis:

The Germans surely building the secret weapon but nothing to do with Tanks as German armors at level0 so far and only take Riga and Minsk in Russia. The Russian winter only found a few troops around the border, and the OKW believe there were no winter strike at all. In the west Portugal fallen and German super subs raiding the African coasts. In the Middle East Italian and German troops reaching Sudan and Iraqi oil fields. Japanese slowly progressing after the fall of China massive air forces arrived near Singapore to finish off the defenders as well as Batavia expected to be taken soon.

After the strike at Hawaii the US starts to recover landing in Alpa and the Japanese able to keep Samoa so far with the help of the endless rainy season. In north India both side is building up massive forces but so far only a few village lost to the Japanese.

Winti Axis:

The German advance seems to be stopped in front of Moscow Kathyusas supported by level 3 Tanks destroying leading forces. In the south the situation is a bit better: Rostov, and Sevastopol taken. In the middle east Situation is similar to the other game Egypt is secured and next target is on sight. In the west the combined Allied navy hunting down the subs near Portugal, to revenge the German conquest of Spain and Portugal. Lonely British commando corps decided to spend a few days in the empty Paris, so the Germans are preparing some fireworks to make it more memorable. The Japanese took China at the same time as in the other game and landed in Madras. So far no sign of US forces and raiders are surfing in the Australian beaches.

Fritz Axis:

The Germans finally boosted their research and took Smolensk, Kharkov,and Sevastopol also Sweden. The Russian Winterstrike came in 42 December and halting the offensive of the Wehrmacht just giving enough breath to the Russians to deploy the latest advancement in Tanks. Now both Germans and Russians at level3. German spring is blossomed with Paratroopers taking Turkey and landed in the Caucasus opening a new front after conquering the middle east. The Japanese halted in the North of India, both side building up massive forces to battle. In the south the US retaking Fiji, and looking for the invasion of Australia as Japanese landed in Darwin. In the north Russians are prepared a counterattack taking Manchouli but experienced troops with Air support halting the advance of the Russians.

Winti Axis:

Finally Paris retaken from the British and US commando units, and Mainland Europe is secured. The majority of the U boot fleet destroyed by combined US and British navy around Spain, during the conquest of Gibraltar, so the Italian navy only arrived after the battle was over. British launched a counterattack to retake Sudan but their main forces are waiting elsewhere. The Japanese advancing slowly but surely in India, controlling the entire South and approaching Delhi and Calcutta where the US air forces are slowing down their advance. In the heart of Russia elite troops advancing towards Novosibirsk, in the far east Vladivostok taken, and invason of Australia just started by capturing Brisbane and Sydney.

Fritz started a Sealion, but still not having Moscow and Stalingrad, I have it as well as India and Australia, but lost the Nordic countries...
