Firing on the move

Recommended Posts

I've noticed that both allies and axis tanks fire on the move....Is this correct?

I thought the Axis tanks especially only fired stationary

any grogs care to comment

ps I should also say they are pretty accurate too on the move

no its not correct in usual and also makes no sence.

sure a tank of this time is able to shoot while driving, but thats all.

look for example at the "technic" of a "leopard 2" and why he can shoot while moving and compare it to the technic of the ww2 tanks and then you know everything :)

Yeah. Some US tanks had a stabilizer that theoretically would have allowed firing on the move, but normally it only allowed quicker laying of the gun once the tank had stopped. There was also some problem with the stabilizer (I don't recall just what) that caused some crews to disable it.

Reminds me of what we would do to the noobs that'd report for the first time to the motor pool. We'd give them a hammer and tell them to check for soft spots on the Sheridan so they'd proceed to walk around it tapping on it and intently listening for something akin to a hollow spot. It never got old. :P

...which ties into there are no soft spots in an AFV relative to a human body.
