MrChris
Hello, all. So I was in the middle of playing CMBB, when the power suddenly went out. When I started the computer up once more, and restarted CMBB, the savegame I had created during the interrupted session (saved well before the power actually went out) didn't show up on the scenario list. The file's still there, but it just doesn't appear in the game. Likewise, the autosave has somehow been reset to an autosave from about two weeks ago. I can't imagine what's happened, but if I could get to that one save game, all my problems would be solved. I was in the middle of a quickbattle generated according to Biltong's Campaign Rules, and it was a doozy, so I'm accordingly rather frustrated. Any suggestions would be most welcome!
Schrullenhaft
What did you name your 'intentionally saved' game to, the default name is usually the battle type (i.e. - 'meeting engagement', etc.) ? I assume that you're looking in the Saved Games folder ? Do you have more than one installation of CMBB on your hard drive ? Does the autosave game have a file size of zero (0) ? Does the file have a '.cme' extension ? Unfortunately (and I don't know why) the most likely scenario here is that your previously saved file is gone/overwritten or just disappeared.
MrChris
Thanks for responding! I have only one CMBB install on my HD. I named the saved game "Game 2b" and it is present in the "saved games" folder (but doesn't show up in the start-game screen in CMBB). Both the autosave and the save game are about 83kb and have the cme extension, but I opened them in notepad, and now have the sinking feeling that, somehow, the power interrupt irreparably corrupted them. "Game 2b" doesn't have the "Axis Attack" (or similar) heading that all the other (different and much older) savegames have, and the autosave has bits of totally unrelated email in it (in what looks like html, no less--ye gods!). I'm assuming, for the present, that there's no way to recover the corrupted savegame...
