What is the scoop on Powerbook G3?

Recommended Posts

I'm unable to run CM on my Powerbook G3.Typical symptoms: Quits to desktop at 800 x 600, hangs on the "load 3D graphics" screen at 640 x 480.

The only solutions that have been able to locate on this board suggest running at 640 x 480 and desactivating 3D accelerator extension, which is obviously not very satisfactory.

Here is my profile, for anyone who might be able to help.

PB G3 266Mhz

System 8.6

128 Meg

Graphic card RageLTPro

ATI 3D accelerator 4.5.3

ATI Driver Update 1.4.7

ATI Resource Manager 1.2.1

ATI Video Accelerator 4.2.2

Finally, considering that a number of people seem to suffer from similar problems, a PB G3 FAQ might not be a bad idea.

Thanks!

Have you tried turning off the movie? hold down the shift key during launch.

You probably only have 2MB of vram in the 266 (maybe 4). I have a PB G3/300 w/4MB vram and all I can get is 640x480, but I get the full 3D effect with fog and all. Check out my thread "Major clue in mac quit to desktop bug..." for the set of drivers that works on mine. I suspect that Charles is looking for the cause for a later (1.03? fix).
