Menu/info screen problems

Installed the game, takes ages to start up though.

Once the movie intro has played the screen goes blank and I hear a short drum roll.

Then nothing unless I press ESC and then re-maximise the games window, then the first menu appears.

This process has to be repeated for each screen upto the start of the game.

On the side selection screen the options cannot be selected/changed, and when ENTER is pressed the game type screen flashes very briefly before the mission briefing appears.

During the game itself everything seems fine except the orders menu pops up blank in 60% of games.

After the game the ESC key must be used and the window maximised again to see the screens.

Any ideas what the problem is?

I know I'll love this game when it works right!!

I assume that you've just purchased the retail CDV release of CMBO.

What OS are you running and what video card ? What driver version and what version of DirectX do yo have installed ? Are you playing off of the CD (which I assume is possible, like it is off of the internet version) ? You may want to double-check the shortcut you use to launch CM to see that it is pointing to the executable on the hard drive and not the CD.

Some of your graphics problems may be solved with a video driver update.
