Battlefront is now Slitherine ×

I'm possibly being thick but....

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just purchased CMSF(paradox) and downloaded Marines and Brits. I'm not the most computer literate of people but the game seems to be functioning fine. (I'm on V 1.21, or whatever the most upto date version is.)

There is a distinct possibility that this maybe a "user" error but in the editor I am having issues deleting units. If for instance I select the battalion structure I cannot delete HQ units, which makes a platoon sized action look pretty ridiculous. This seems to occur at company level too. I have loaded a couple of the enclosed scenarios that come with the game and looked at the unit purchase screen and it would appear that it should be entirely possible to purcase a single platoon without the complete command structure of the battalion tagging along for the ride.

Also how do you purchase red units on the blue side? Again this seems to be something that you can do looking at other peoples scenarios but how:confused:?

I was a great fan of the original CM games and still play them quite regularly. Since purchasing CMSF most of my limited brain power has been spent trying to work out how elevation works in the map editor. I think I've finally cracked that one and now its only the above problems I can't get my head round.

On another point completely why no Isrealis? Any plans for any?

Great game. Please help.

HQ units are key to the way information is passed through the chain of command. You can delete any HQ that has only a single complete sub-formation with its own HQ below it. Pretty much if it has a + next to it, you have to delete everything except that one unit before you can delete the higher HQ. This can be a bit annoying, IRL you'd have units attached to a higher formation. You can put the HQ's in as reinforcements that arrive after the end of the battle if you really don't want to see them.

For your platoon size action, delete all the other companies and all the other battalion level support weapons, then delete the battalion HQ, then delete all the other platoons and company level support weapons, then delete the company HQ, then all you have left is the stuff that is organic to that platoon. It is rather retarded to have to do it this way, but its not so bad when you get used to it (hint: start at the bottom and click delete).

Purchasing red units on the blue side, you have to buy your blue units, then go into mission>data>force vs force and change to red vs red or blue vs blue, then go back to the units menu and buy your red forces.
