Problem with disc protection after updating

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. It's pretty sad that my first post here is a call for help.

Today I bought CM:SF from a electronics store. The game was at version 1.07 out of the box, so I moved on to update it to 1.20.

After installing patch 1.10, I tried to run the game, but a "Wrong disc inserted" window popped up. Of course I had the right disc inserted on my DVD drive.

After that I tried installing patch 1.20, but the result was the same.

The game out of the box works fine, but it gets screwed after updating.

Some info that you might need:

I've got the spanish version of the game, but the box says it's from Paradox and FriendWare, so the Paradox patches should work. Or not?

P.S. sorry for my bad english

My DVD is not assigned to a letter different than D:, but I've already tried putting it on D: without results.

I have Alcohol 52% installed, but I've already tried disabling all virtual units.

Is this one of these games where you can't have Alcohol or Daemon Tools to get it running?:(

Please help me, I've wanted this game for a long time, and now... this :( .Thank you all

I just uninstalled all my cd-emulating programs, deleted everything related to them from the registry and the hard drive, and restarted my PC.

And again, I install CM:SF, and it works. But after installing patch 1.10, a message saying "wrong disk inserted" pops every time I try to play. Am I installing the wrong patch?? Is the spanish version not compatible with the updates??:(

If you want the latest 1.21 patch, then yes, since Paradox has stopped support for the game. Otherwise, you could stick to the 1.20 patch, which is free and available from www.battlefront.com/patches.

Lastly, you do not have to buy the $1 patch, but could also simply buy one of the modules instead. That will also "convert" your game to the original Battlefront version, and you save the extra buck.

I bought the 1$ update and now the game is working.

The problem is that I'm worried about this licensin thing. I know that if I want to install the game on another computer, I have to unlicense this one first.

What happens if my computer suddenly dies without giving me any chance of unlicensing the game? Will I have to buy another license?

No. First of all, each key allows you to be activated on up to two PCs at the same time anyway. So if one PC dies, you'll be good to go. But if TWO PC die on you unexpectedly, then all you need to do is submit a support ticket at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk, and include your key. We can reset the key for you in a situation like that.

There is a limit for resets, but as long as you do not get total crashes every week, you will be fine (and if you do, then you have bigger problems then a license key ;))
