I think I've broken my CMBO disk

Recommended Posts

When I insert CD into machine it rattles and scrapes alarmingly and my file manager (Exploring) cant read it. When I try to launch the game I am told "No CDROM Detected". However pc reads other CDs fine.

No I dont always place the CD back in it's wrapper each time I take it out of the pc.

My question is: are their any reliable ways of repairing the damage I appear to have done? I have seen "CD repair kits" at my local K-mart which appear to involve polishing the reflective surface with some gel or solution. Also my local video rental chappie is advertising a machine he has bought which does something similar I think.

If your CD is excessively scratched, then it may be worth it to perform some of the polshing solutions. I'm not sure of their cost (some are more expensive than a music CD).

Battlefront will also replace your CD for a fee (shipping and handling and a small fee for the CD). If you want to go this route you can email Madmatt at support@battlefront.com with your original shipping and billing info (credit card number, etc.). However, since you live in OZ it may be much quicker to try out the disc polishing solutions.
