Michlos
I recieved some map files today and went to open them in the Scenario Designer. When I click the file it says "You must update to a new version to use this. Please visit www.battelfront.com for more information." Weird thing is that both me and the map maker are using v 1.12. Any ideas?
Schrullenhaft
They're probably created with an older version of CM. I'm not sure when this message will pop up as some older scenarios/ops/maps work fine (to my knowledge) in v. 1.12, while others may generate the error when loaded with anything but the version they were created in (I know this is definitely true of the AAR movies some people have posted of their games).
Michlos
Problem is that he is also running v1.12 so it shouldn't create any problems, should it? Matt what do you say about this?
Schrullenhaft
I'd suggest having the original mapmaker open and resave the map file and then compress/zip the file and send it to you. I don't know why this message would come up if the file was originally created in 1.12 and opened in 1.12.
Madmatt
Unless the map makes had an internal beta version (was he a tester by chance?) than v1.12 should be able to open any older release version map. Send me the map and I will see what it does on my end as I still have EVERY CM.exe ever made. Madmatt
Michlos
After some trying we found that if he ziped the file we would get it to work. Does anyone know why .cmbs have a tendency to become corrupt when you send/download it without having ziped it first?
Madmatt
Some email packages get confused by the format of the attachment and try to apply MIME Encryption to it which totally screws up the file. Its actually amazing that CM even loaded the file without crashing. Madmatt
