goodwood
Will this game engine support Air ops, specifically chopper ops, such as the type of ops choppers were used in Vietnam?
Yair Iny
Well, you could say it already does. Reinforcements can simulate air assaulting troops, while close air support from choppers simulates, well, close air support from choppers. As to actually having choppers seen in game, flying in and possibly being shot down, that's a no, and BFC have said they will not support it. For good reason, IMHO, as it is really no limitation on the sort of scenarios you can simulate and the coding time could be spent elsewhere more usefully.
gibsonm
Yes, I'm afraid you aren't going to see the mechanics of the actual landing. The best you can achieve is to simulate the LZ being just "off the map" with the air mobile forces coming onto the map as if moving from the LZ to the objective. You can stagger their arrival to reflect a disrupted insertion (or the need to commit some of the assault forces to secure the perimeter, etc.) if you want to reflect a "non perfect" landing. You could always play some Wagner if you wanted to get in the mood.
