mike_the_wino
Touring around the US, the [url=http://www.collingsfoundation.org/cf_schedule-wof.htm]Collings Foundation offers rides.....starting at $425 per person. Yikes! Can't quite bring myself to drop $425 for 30 minutes on the B-24 flight. Maybe next year when/ if they come back around. Any of you been up in the B-24, B-17 or both?
gunnergoz
I got a ground tour of that B-24 when it first came over from India, about 30 years ago. It was all-silver then. A real time machine - all the AAF and Consolidated manuals were still in it. Very few flight hours on it, either; it had been barely used as a maritime patrol aircraft by the Indian Air Force when it was replaced (probably by a Shackleton) and mothballed. It still had the belly turret replacement radar dome in it, which would have made it a wartime pathfinder bomber, IIRC. If I had the bucks, I'd not hesitate to go for a flight in it - a memory to cherish. Hell, just walking & crawling around in it was a treat!
