Schrullenhaft
Is this CMBO or CMBB ? Where did you buy your copy from a retail outlet (which means that it is a CDV release) or directly from Battlefront.com via the internet ? What OS (Windows version) are you running ? Do you have anything running in the background when you attempt to install ? I suggest making sure that everything is shut down before installing CM, this includes anti-virus software, etc. If you're running Windows XP or 2000, make sure you're logged in with Administrator rights.
Baywood
I bought CMBO directly from Battlefront.com. I am running WindowsME. I was able to run the demo without a problem. I am being told by wizard that I am denied access to the files by the owner? Any ideas? Michael
Schrullenhaft
Again, make sure that NOTHING else is running in the background. Do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and check to see what is running (though this won't list all possible 'programs' that could be interfering). Kill EVERYTHING except Explorer and Systray - THEN install CMBO. Also clean out any temporary directories on your hard drive to prevent some other problems (such as C:\WINDOWS\TEMP). If you still get the error, then there may be something wrong with your WinME installation. I suggest also running Scandisk on your hard drives (a 'thorough' check shouldn't be necessary at this point). Another option is to manually copy the files to your hard drive (you can actually play CMBO from the CDROM, but there's a few problems doing it that way). There's NOTHING special about the installation program for CMBO; there's no registry settings or other files that get copied all over the hard drive. Just create a directory on your hard drive for CM and then copy all of the files on the CD to that directory (although there are some installation files on the CD that aren't necessary). The 'Combatmission.exe' file is what you want to execute to run the game (and you'll need the CD in the drive to to copy protection).
