John Kettler
I'm running CM on a 233 Mhz iMac (64 MB RAM and 2 MB VRAM on ATI RAge Pro, OS 8.6). I have repeatedly been aggravated by having my desktop icons squeezed together by CM, forcing me to reset and rearrange them. Resetting only aligns them neatly; I still have to put them where I want them in terms of sequence. I think this icon smashup problem is caused by the automatic resolution change to 640 x 480 when I run CM. Normally, my display is set for 800 x 600. Is there some command I can invoke to freeze the desktop icons in place before running CM? I know I used to do this routinely on my last PC, which was an Amiga. Thanks! Ben Galanti
Switching to 640x480 before you run CM might help with this. I don't think there is a whole lot that BTS can do about it though, because I suspect they are change resolutions via draw sprocket, so it isn't their code... John Kettler
Ben, A good idea that works! I'd prefer not to have to do it this way, but it sure saves wear and tear on the nerves. Thanks! John Kettler
DavidJJ
There is a shareware extension or small app that remembers your desktop arrangement and reverts bnack to it when necessary. Look on Macupdate or one of the other shareware sites for it (or Macaddict). David
