panzermartin
Since it will take some special care to code, will we see something close to the levels of IL-2 engine, with reflections, motion etc, or is this too much to ask? I think water will be a significant boost in aesthetic quality of the game if done right.
Paper Tiger
During one of the next "steps" in the CM series, "proper" water will be introduced. This means, dynamic flowing visually appealing water, and not just a static tile. Until then - there are some really GREAT inofficial mods out there. Martin That's a quote from a thread called 'Water' in the scenario forum. It doesn't state Normandy specifically but water will be 'in' that title.
Sergei
The reason for why there isn't water in CMSF (even as a simple blue texture for a marsh-type tile) is that it needed to be done properly, with bridges and AI to handle them and everything, and that was going to be a very time consuming step. It will be in CM:Normandy for sure.
