New DirectX Version Is Out

Recommended Posts

I've never used Direct-X as a 'tool' for improving my system. So I (too) would like to know if this or a new version of Direct-X can improve some game issues (Direct-3D related games?).

Dear creators of CM:SF, can you verify this?

Douglas, I hope that you will try this version out and share your experiences.

Forgot that CMSF was OpenGL. However, it did run a bit smoother. At least it seemed to.

On other programs I did get better frame rates, and improved images. This was with Turbines Lord of The Rings Online and Bethsofts Star Trek Legacy.

This on a C2D X6800, 2 gigs RAM, nVidia 7950GX2, Sound Blaster X-Fi.

The link abive is for the full Redistribution version of DirectX 9.0c (w/ August update). You don't need that whole 60 meg file though as you can go here and just get new material via the online update utility.

As mentioned above, CMSF uses OpenGL, not DirectDraw, but these new DX updates often fix issues with other games so worth the download.
