  1. Thanks for the input. I might be trying the new version next week-end. Also see which game I play will (or might) benefit from a new Direct-X.
  2. I've never used Direct-X as a 'tool' for improving my system. So I (too) would like to know if this or a new version of Direct-X can improve some game issues (Direct-3D related games?). Dear creators of CM:SF, can you verify this? Douglas, I hope that you will try this version out and share your experiences. [ August 06, 2007, 11:14 AM: Message edited by: GWSB ]
  3. Couldn't agree more. That's why I will look into my software and running programms during gameplay. I know I will enjoy ToW this weekend!
  4. Easy people. I feel a lot of tension, bad vibes and so. My specs are well above the minimum. Still I have some minor CTD's and mixed music score during loading times. I don't love the developers for that, but I respect them for creating this game. Considering its birth on last Friday, asking for a multi-solve patch ready for the take is quite strange. Maybe in a month or so. Last Sunday I have started and finished a wonderfull French campaign without any CTDs, with no limitations in configuration as for sound and shadows, so it is possible to play it. I have an Athlon 64 3200+ with a Nvidia 7800GTX on a sli mainboard (just in case). I suspect the integrated soundchip (Realtek) and the way the game adresses this soundchip as main cause for my CTDs. Updating the driver didn't work. Anyway ... rustig! [ April 27, 2007, 09:26 AM: Message edited by: GWSB ]
  5. ToW is great. I like it and that's enough. But I must agree with HardRock that the camera must grow on you (IF.. you learn how ...). With the three options for it (free, center, and cursor) the handling is different and all have their pro- and cons. The cursor is perfect for rapid focusing on the battlefield, and if you tuned your zoom rate, you have excellent results. The lock and unlock-method works too. You must put effort in this game to get the most out of it. It's not a shooter.
  6. I'm happy to have cut the knot to buy this game. This is what Faces of War should have been. The gameplay / control work well enough and for controls the user-interface can be changed in depth to adapt it to your liking. To navigate on the battlelfield, the camera control has some nice worked-out options. The 'switch' for third person / first person view (and action) during the battle is a wonderfull idea. All this need training however, so there is a rather steep learning curve. It is worth it and the training missions help a lot. And there is much more to be proud off, like all-over graphics, the total atmosphere (music!) and realism in the gameplay. Example: very nice animations and effects for air support missions. The link with Il2 Sturmovik is there! So thank you. This is a game I will play often and recommend to others. I think the price for this game (download) is fair enough ($45= 33 euro). As I see it, the people who made and support this game have earned their pay. Intellectual property. And new games overhere always cost 40 - 50 euros.
