ned lud Posted March 7, 2002 Share Posted March 7, 2002 Anyone recommend any burner software/techniques for making a backup disc - mines looking the worse for wear and i fear it wont last much longer. So copying the files to the hard drive would in effect be installing the game (just not creating the shortcuts and the small registry entry to allow for simple uninstallation). However CM will still check for the CD in order to play, so simple copying of the files to the hard drive doesn't circumvent the copy protection code and the need for the CD. Posting about methods to copy the CD (even for backup purposes) and circumventing the need for the CD to play the game is a bit of a no-no on this forum. Since any methods that are discussed make it that much easier for people to make illegal copies of CM. If you provided a valid email address in your profile such issues could be discussed off of the forum.
