Prince of Eckmühl
Since installing the download version of the game, the spyware utility Hijack This is reporting a new entry: O23 - Service: LicCtrl Service (LicCtrlService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\runservice.exe I have tried to kill the entry via the utility and Task Manager, but am unable to do so. Can anyone from BF tell me whether what is being reported as spyware is in fact associated with their Elicense scheme. Edit: This is a question, btw, not an accusation. Prince of Eckmühl
Update: I was able to stop the license control service via control panel/administrative tools/services/license control service. ToW still works, so if the appearance of the browser hijack is somehow related to Elicensing, it can easily be disabled. PoE
Prince of Eckmühl
Update 2: I was able to run ToW, alright, but when I did it re-enabled Runservice.exe. So, if I want to play ToW, I'm gonna have the license control service phoning home. What strikes me as sort of lame is that, if ToW and Elicensing are smart enough to turn the service on, you'd think that they could turn it off as the system is shut down or restarted. My next door neighbor is a network security wonk down in Round Rock. We shall have a chat this evening. PoE

rune
No, that is NOT what he said, he said it reports as unknown, but is in fact part of the elicense. it is not spyware. Rune
