A lot of it is actually pretty easy to figure out just by looking at the .physicalobjectgroup files in the \data directory and making some experimental changes to them. You're quite welcome to ask questions about them here on the forum while waiting for the documentation. In the meantime, you might want to use this mod forum to post your ideas about new units and get feedback on them, maybe post sketches of your ideas, etc. This way, once you have the documentation, you can get right to it.
