When the Night Comes Falling from the Sky

Recommended Posts

Was there a change with the night / lighting model between maybe 1.06 and 1.08 or somefink?

Reason I ask is I cannot recall being so impressed with how the game looks at night before. Just installed 1.08 played Baker 1-1 and that little scenario al huqf myabe, anyway, the lighting effects at night really are great. It always looked good, and maybe it's finally having the VGA settings dialed in properly, but whatever the reason; Wow! Very very nice looking at night. Really helps the old "immersion" factor.

One suggestion, can you get lights in the windows? I know there's a war on and all but a coule buildings here and there with a light or two glowing out the window... guessing that would really look nice.

Also, what about as a "doo dad" road flares, street and traffic lights?

I thought of the same thing about the lights coming from the windows and posted that idea awhile back and never got a straight answer, as for the street lights not a bad idea. I will once again make a suggestion and see what happens. Oh, most of the answers I got back was its war and the civilians turn the lights off :D

No, more like the power grid goes down once hostilities start ... either by being physically disrupted (e.g. bombed) or the power plant operators don't go to work for fear of it.

Now I'll grant you that in a developing country like Syria where blackouts are pretty common, specific facilities like government installations, newer factories or rich people would have diesel generators for backup power. But would they really be using them when the infidels are coming to town? Kind of like putting a big "bomb me" sign on your building.

Also remember, BFC has been very clear that they're not going out of their way to provide functionality that would only show up in post-occupation scenarios (e.g. guerrilla warfare). This is blitzkrieg phase only.
