Nekander
Looking for help, frustration is growing.. I have had problems with CMBB (sometimes it totally freezes). So I have updated my Geforce drivers, VIA 4-in-1 and DirectX. Now when I try to start either CMBB or CMBO, there is a failure in 3D Direct test. My desktop resolution is 1024x768, but I'm offered only 640x480 resolution for both games (which is too small and the games won't run). When I try to "skip" to better resolution I get answer "Could not initialize 3D graphics". I have deleted the CM preferences file, but that doesn't help. Here are my system specs: AMD Duron 750 MHz, 128 RAM GeForce2 MX/MX 400 Windows 98, DirectX 8.1 CMBB CDV version, 1.01 patch Thank you for answers! -Nekander
Madmatt
Which video drivers specifically are you running? I recommend either the 30.82 or 30.87 series for stability and performance. The newer drivers still seem a little buggy. Also go ahead and reinstall DX or go ahead and install DX9. Madmatt
Nekander
Hi! I use 30.82 drivers. I will now install DX9. Thanks! -Nekander
easytarget
might do a search on that vid chip set here - seems like i recall others with having trouble and possible solns might lurk in those threads i doubt directx changes will affect anything - in particular switching to directx 9 will no doubt make little difference since no game takes advantage of anything in it yet
Nekander
Just want to tell what worked for me: I completely re-installed my computer (formated hard drive and installed Windoes XP). Now CMBB is running fine! No problems at all even in larger scenarios. My guess is that my former OS Windows 98 was really a mess after I had made many attempts with different GeForce drivers and it couldn't recover. I just bought a 1,2 MHz processor and more memory (+256). I hope that speed thing up, now it's little slow. -Nekander
