Due to some recent problems with my computer I did a format of my HD and re-installed windows. I re-installed CMBO but I can't get it to function now!

I'm getting the following messages:

"At address: 0054485"

then:

"Unhandled exeption c0000005"

"At address: 0054485"

finally:

"This program has performed an illegal error and will be shut down"

details:

module COMBAT MISSION.EXE at 015f:00544585.

I uninstalled and reinstalled CMBO several times....getting the same result. Anyhow have a clue what may be going on? I'm starting to undergo the CM DTs!

The version of Windows 98 that you're loading is the 1st Edition which comes with DirectX 5.0. You need to install at least DirectX 6.1.

You can get DirectX 8.0a from here (version 8.1 should be available around the beginning of November or so):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=27741

Installing this should fix the error you're getting with CMBO. You may want to consider reinstalling your video driver after updating DirectX 8.0a, but I don't know how necessary that may be.
