AntiEverything
I've noticed that when I try to patch Combat Mission from 1.112 to 1.5 it tells when I start the game that I don't have the CD in the drive, but I of course do. When I restore the exe file to the older version the problem goes away. What's going on?
mike8g
AntiE, 1.112, 1.5 ???? Haven't heard of those! The latest (and probably final) patch is 1.12 You can grab it here: ftp://ftp.battlefront.com/pub/patches/ Marcus [ 07-23-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]
Guest ckoharik
Are you sure you aren't seeing 1.05 instead of 1.5? As far as I know 1.12 is the last patch that will be released.
AntiEverything
Sorry about the confusion, I was a little tired when I posted my question. Whatever the latest patch was, 1.05 or whatever caused Combat Mission to not recognize that I had the CD in the drive and wouldn't allow me to play the game.
Schrullenhaft
The update to the executable shouldn't affect seeing your CDROM for copyright protection purposes. I'd suggest reinstalling the 1.12 patch again and deleting your CM Prefs file (in the same directory as your executable, which on the PC is C:\PROGRAM FILES\CMBO). You will need to go through your resolution detection process again when you start up, but hopefully CM will see the CD.
Maximus
Well, in fact what you are doing by installing the v1.05 patch is that you are down grading your version. I assume you are a new CM owner, you're version was shipped with v1.11. This is obviously higher than v1.05. The final patch is in fact, v1.12. So get the v1.12 patch nad you'll be set. Because, what is happening is that since the coding on the CD is v1.11 and you install the v1.05 patch, the game is like "WHOAH, I'm now more obsolete than when I got here."
