Tankbuster
OK I have played this one through three times now, successfully the last two times, but the Victory message will not come up. I have circled the Finish point numerous times to try and trigger the Victory, but the mission just will not end - even if I go beyond the Finish point. Anyone else had this problem and know what to do to get the Victory?? All enemy units are dead by the way so that is not what is holding back the Victory.
Freya
Hmm, I've never finished this mission, a pretty though one imo. Since this is an escort mission, perhaps one of the vehicles you're supposed to escort have not, or can not reach the finishing point(if all of the vehicles you must escort would be dead, you should get a *Mission failed* message), though looking at your screens this does not seems to be the case.
Tankbuster
Yup, all vehicles made it to the finish. I got the Objective Complete message which flashed up on the screen, but the Victory message would not appear and I could not bring up the statistics for the mission. The AI vehicle waymarking in this mission is crazy. Even if you tell the vehicles you are escorting to follow the roads all of them drive off the side of the dam and try to ford the lake to get back on to the road, even though the dam is perfectly crossable The trick to this mission is to move ahead cautiously with your tank only, leaving the convoy in the village until you have wiped out all enemy on the village side of the dam. Then bring up the convoy on the roads behind you and move on ahead to deal with the RPG guys on the far side of the dam - that way the convoy has a clear run to the Finish. I will try once more, but if I just get the Objective Complete message again I will consider the mission finished.
Felix The Tanker
As an aside, how do you get the convoy to follow you? I've clicked all over the map to try to get them to move to the crossroads after I've cleared the route, but nothing I do seems to get them going. It must be my powers of command!
Tankbuster
Felix - As you have done before, clear the road ahead first with your tank (leave the convoy in the village with no orders for the time being). Once the road ahead is clear go into the map (F11) click on the vertical column formation, then click on the button for "Move Along Road" which looks like a road with some broken white lines down the middle, then click on the Movement button and then left click on the map at the crossroads to place the yellow flag there. Exit the map and move your tank ahead of the crossroads. The column will start to follow you along the road after a short delay. You can check their progress on the map. The big problem for the column on this map seems to be the dam. Although you can easily cross the dam, even though there is a stone projecting out of the surface on the right hand side, the column seems to think it cannot get past that stone. The column will always veer alarmingly off the dam and into the lake to get across to the track which leads to the Finish. Sometimes they do this successfully, sometimes they just flood their engines and come to a stop. I haven't found a way yet to get them across the dam rather than trying to cross the lake.

Unfortunately, this problem appears on other maps as well. The AI drivers (yours included) are obviously getting irritated (to say at least ) when a) in urban areas and when crossing a river via a bridge or dam. Seems there's some conflict with their path-finding.
Tankbuster
I tend to drive everywhere myself now and then switch to gunner when necessary. I just don't trust the AI driver to work it out. I've seen loads of AI drivers commit suicide, particularly the crazy APC drivers, by going too fast over rough terrain, then they turn into a fiery ball as they roll over downhill

As long as there is open country, commands like "move to waypoint", directly setting a waypoint on the map or control by the numerical keys will work just fine. I use that a lot so I can scan the area while the driver keeps on, err, driving.
Tankbuster
Yup, open country is fine and I am happy to leave the AI to blunder around on his own when faced with a vast grassland to cross with nothing more than shrubs to run over, but letting him do his own thing on a narrow road, in a town or village, or in any other confined situation is asking for trouble. I reckon that guy has a stash of vodka in the turret somewhere
