As an aside, how do you get the convoy to follow you? I've clicked all over the map to try to get them to move to the crossroads after I've cleared the route, but nothing I do seems to get them going. It must be my powers of command!

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way of increasing the machine gun ammo without doing the same for the main gun. If you want to give yourself unlimited ammo for all guns, run "cfg.bat" and in Realism change the "Unlimited ammunition" option to "Yes"
