Guest Mike
When Algy got killed Eccles took over - with about 650 exp to spend I made some careful selections, then went off to play. Somehow I had -80 exp available when I started a mission!! I'd spent his experience all in one go - buying skills and then a few cards & redraws & stuff - the skill costs went up as I bouoght them, as usual, but evidently something went a bit haywaire - how could I end up with -80? It's mostly solved now - he got the shirt kicked out of him on an escort, lost a heap of exp, and is down to -49 now!! lol This thing can work in strange ways!! Edit: The immediate problem is now solved - Eccles is dead too!! [ November 23, 2005, 09:32 PM: Message edited by: Stalin's Organist ]
Sixxkiller
Its been a bad week for some of us. Lost my best Japanese pilot too. Well we rebound from loss dont we Stalin? Thats what I get for playing at 4am. Sadly it was my last game of the night.... -Ray
Guest Mike
I hate going from Spitfire XIV's to Gladiators!! but once a wingman is gone I find the leader often goes fairly quickly too, and vice versa - at high points getting a brand spanking new sidekick is a massive liability when you're at 30+ points jsut for your leader alone! Northstar
I've been thinking about this a bit, and Stalin's Organist's (too many apostrphes!? ) comment above seems a good chance to bring it up. When the wingie of a high ranking pilot buys it (or a leader dies, resulting in the promotion of a wingie with lots of points) maybe the new wingman should get some initial experiance points? I'm thinking maybe half of the experiance of the leader, or something along those lines. That way, there would still be a penalty for losing a wingie/leader, but you would still end up with a viable team. Seems realistic, in a sense, too, since it seems unlikely that a high ranking ace would receive a wingman fresh out of flight school.
bartbert
One of the things we're looking at doing is to change the way XP are distributed after a battle. Right now, each pilot only gets XP for what they personally shot down, except for escorting bombers. We're considering going to a system where the XP are distributed based on the relative experience of the leader and wingman. So, if you had a leader with a lot of experience with a brand new wingman, the wingman would get most of the XP (like maybe 80%). This would simulate the more experienced leader passing on his knowledge to the new wingman, and would help the wingman advance more quickly. As the experience of the leader and wingman become more equal, the XP would then be distributed equally as well.
Sixxkiller
Thats a great idea. I think it would make people less likely to delete their high lvls if the wingys had a chance to rebuild quickly. -Ray
Ron
Yes second that, excellent idea and would very much like to see it implemented. Ron
Guest Mike
Indeed - I had a leader get a VC last night - by virtue of his wingman doing a lot of hard work and then not taking eth final shots for the kill - so the wingie "only" got 31pt ( 15 & a 16 pt wingmen damaged) + the bombers (one OK, one smoking IIRC) - seemed a little cruel! Northstar
I agree that that sounds like a good way of addressing the issue. Keep up the good work, guys!
