John DiFool the 2nd
It was one of those monster global WWII board games, like World in Flames but with lots of chrome. The thing which got my dream-self's attention was how the leaders, in addition to their base ratings, also had at least one "specialty". To wit: Rommel: Adds +1 to the attack strength of any tank units underneath his control Montgomery: Adds +1 supply to any units etc. Galland: Adds +1 to the A/D of any fighters... You could even extend this to Admirals, who would stay adjacent to the home port and control 5 sea units. Doenitz would add +1 to any surface ships, Raeder +1 to any subs, for example. I see no drawbacks, in terms of micromanagement or elsewise, to something like this. I do vaguely recall it being brought up like 3 years ago here. The weird part was that the only way you could get the leaders was by buying soft drink bottles, with the leader and his stats underneath the bottle cap. Like wargaming would ever get popular enough to make that viable...
Timskorn
Leader abilities is a big thing in Paradox games and certainly adds to the experience. Right now leaders are defined by their rating only. By giving certain abilities to them all, then even low rated generals would be useful throghout the game.
