GenSplatton
I am trying to revive CM:BO on my computer. I have been playing a bud while deployed using my laptop. Now that I am home, my desktop can't seem to run CM:BO anymore. What basically happens is, as the movie ends, or if I hit a button to skip it, instead of getting the menu screen I get a lock up. A hard lock up. One that requires a reset. I'm running a 1.1 Athlon, 64Mb Radeon DDR VIVO card, 512 on the memory. The changes I have made, which I suspect are causing the problem, is XP and DX9.0a. Anyone else have this specific problem? I'm not going back to Win98, to much money spent. Maybe I should try going back to DX8.1? GenSplatton
Disregard. Nothing will run. Apparently some aspect of my computer has sh*t the bed.
jwxspoon
Hey Splatty - Make sure your laptop is completely patched up with Wndows Update. I have an Alienware P4 2.8 laptopn with a Radeon 9000M video card and XP. When i first got it I immediately updated the OS. One of the patches gave mis similar problems. I had to back out of the patches one by one to fix it. Since then, a subsequent XP patch has corrected the problem with the first patch. I now have all of the XP patches running and everything is smooth as silk. jw
GenSplatton
Thanx jwxspoon, but it was the card itself. I should have suspected when certain games that had worked, CM being a prime example, failed to work a few weeks ago. I plugged a Voodoo3 in and it ran fine. So, I used this as an excuse to get a new Radeon 9500 Pro and everything is peachy. Oh, and I had my son plug the old card in to his computer. Wouldn't run there either. It just went bad after excessive use I guess.
