Arty Adjusting fire and the Mac

Recommended Posts

Folks,

I play CM on a Mac G4 (MacOS9.1)...when I do

an arty adjust for an arty spotter from a spot

on the map that the spotter does NOT have LOS

to another non-LOS point I don't see a green

or a blue line. Is this correct behaviour or

is it a bug? What am I missing...I read and

reread the "Arty and Mortars" section of the

manual.

Regards,

Rob

P.S. I did search for this but couldn't find

what I was looking for...

Fear Not

This is Normal Behavior

Mac or PC wise

What you are probably getting when you release from targeting out of LOS is an Orange Targeting Line which is area fire

It takes a bit longer than a target in LOS

But those rounds of joy

(yours not your opponents)

will soon fall

Hi Rob,

Just to reinforce:

Blue line = In LOS, but must target from scratch.

Green line = In LOS, adjustment (shorter delay time)

Yellow line = Out of LOS. Time will still be shorter if you adjust near the previous target, but out of LOS countdown penalty will still apply.

Hope this helps,

TT

The maximum range you can change an artillery target and still have it be "adjusting" rather than a new fire mission is right around 80 meters. This is true even if you don't have LOS and so have to deal with the orange/black LOS line instead of the green/blue line. Try going to an overhead view (6 or 7) over the target area, that makes it easier to estimate distances if you want to keep the new target within the adjustment radius. (The gridded terrain mods help a bunch with this, too.)
